Mayweather Wants The PPV To Be £100 in The UK, Says Hearn
FLOYD MAYWEATHER wants to charge boxing fans in the U.K. an extortionate amount of money to watch him box Conor McGregor, according to promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport.
Fans in the United States will have to shell out $100 if they want to watch an HD feed of the UFC's poster boy trying become the first man to defeat Mayweather.
And according to Matchroom's Hearn, Mayweather wants to charge U.K. punters a staggering £100 to watch 'The Billion Dollar Fight'.
"Mayweather wants the price to be £100," Hearn told GQ.
Sky are currently the favourites to land the broadcasting rights for Mayweather vs. McGregor.
Hearn doesn't foresee them charging more than their standard price for a pay-per-view.
"The price will be within the same realms as it always has. I don’t set the price, but my gut feeling is £19.95," he added.
"If it went to £24.95… I can’t see it, it wouldn’t be my decision. Sky won’t want to go beyond £19.95. That is their price point."

100, why not. I didn't think they'd make the fight in the first place. I guess anything can happen
Re: Mayweather Wants The PPV To Be £100 in The UK, Says Hearn
It's never going to be £100. Why do we keep pretending it will be?
Re: Mayweather Wants The PPV To Be £100 in The UK, Says Hearn
I'd want the pair of them boxing in my back garden for £100.00
And they'd need to bring some meat for the bbq and some beers.

Presumably that's why it's taking so long to announce a deal. No British broadcaster in their right mind would buy the rights for this PPV on the basis of selling it at £100 a pop, they know they'd lose a shitload of money on it.

I want Floyd to pay me $100 to watch it. Neither of us will get what we want.

Hearn has already said repeatedly that £20.00 is "the ceiling" for Sky PPV model. Him and Barney Francis have already discussed the matter and it was unanimously agreed.fightfan95 wrote:Lets face it, if it's on Sky its going to be £20.

They didn't for Mayweather vs Pacquaio and it really doesn't get much bigger than that.fightfan95 wrote:I heard that the most Sky would charge would be £25

Eddies tweeted he is making a big announcement today regarding it
Re: Mayweather Wants The PPV To Be £100 in The UK, Says Hearn
I may be missing something here but what has any of this got to do with Hearn? He's not promoting it and so why is he making announcements about it?

It's clever by Eddie. Putting it out there that it may be £100, Mayweather wanting it to be £100 and when he announces, probably today given the timing of the article, that Sky have the fight and will charge £19.95ish, he and Sky will get credit for not over-charging.
Shrewd.

Anyone paying over 5 dollar to watch this obviously doesn't know anything about boxing.
But ok, who am I, I even found someone who prefered Bonrer against... I can't even remember his name instead of the Miller vs Washington fight.

Confirmed £19.95 on sky, knew they wouldn't rip you off, well not more than £20 anyways
Re: Mayweather Wants The PPV To Be £100 in The UK, Says Hearn
Yep and a free bit of PR thrown in. Further hype, futher potential viewing figures. Just a promoter promoting.maverick23 wrote:It's clever by Eddie. Please make it £100
I'm not going to buy it even if its normal price
I'd probably watch it eating my breakfast on sky plus if its free but that's it

Good news for Katie Taylor with Sky getting it. Apparently Floyd's team were looking at her in Brooklyn for a potential undercard bout before she fought on Saturday. Hopefully she gets a spot on the undercard now.

Only a real idiot would pay money to see this "fight"
Re: Mayweather Wants The PPV To Be £100 in The UK, Says Hearn
Undercard -
Badou Jack v TBA
Gervonta Davis v Rocky Martinez (Rumoured)
Ashley Theopane - Maybe
What else would you expect added ?

Savannah Marshall is with Floyd's promotional team that must mean a decent chance of her being added to the undercard.
