Garbage.

Maybe you should tell Don Dunphy and Chickie Ferraro to "watch it again."

Ali spent the entire fight on the ropes with Lyle punching at him.

Compare this farce with the ending of the Foreman-Lyle fight, which was not even a title fight.
Its irrelevant what happened during the fight, the important bit is the ending. Lyle was sent reeling across the ring and was getting hit without reply. Ali hit him over 40 times, Lyle should've fought back or protected himself better.

You leave referees with chances to interpret the ending they would like to see.. So he needed to throw a punch or 2 back.. Lyle was ahead of the cards and you don't give up a lead late in a fight because you're not punching.. You saw MIkey Garcia throw 300 punches in the final 3 rounds when he was way ahead.

What a Holy load of Royal sewage....and since it's from you, you probably imagine that it does not have an offending fragrance.

Look....I'm with you when you say that typically Ali was not a heavy hitter...and that's because he was often not planted and shooting from odd angles while confusing his opponents with pretty sophisticated footwork....(why do I know you will argue with on on this? I know because that's what you do). Anywho....when he was set and had his feet planted, he could whack pretty respectably....and Lyle was not being clever....he was getting hit pretty profoundly....and yeah...I wish the ref would have let it go to end this nonsensical speculation.....but you have been quoted right here in this respectable forum saying "safety first". But that was when you had a dog in the race to make a different sort of point.

It was in Lyles hands to show he had something......and honestly...he didn't, and was about to meet a more natural (and more satisfying apparently to you in this particular case) ending. And he could have been injured...which in this case, does not seem to rise to a priority for you...as it has in the past with other scenarios that you have pointed to.

For me it's Foreman who had the most power, Tyson's biggest attribute was his hand speed.
