You cannot properly evaluate power from watching on tape. The most reliable source are mid level sparring partners who have been in several camps. These fighters usually say Wilder, Wlad and Joshua can bang. Nearly everyone who has been in with Wilder says he has scary power in both hands.

Elite power - Wlad, Joshua, Haye (maybe not now he's lost speed), wilder, PriceValMar wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:ValMar wrote:

Strong power - Ortiz, Povetkin, mansour, pulev, Browne, Parker
Domestic/fringe power - Whyte, Chisora, Fury (possibly can punch harder but his fighting style is not to load up), breazeale
Weak power - Scott, Allen
Some will punch harder than others in categories but it really is foolish to make a top ten and believe your rankings are accurate

Are there multiple definitions?gp. wrote:punchoutsb wrote:Wilder and Klitschko have 10/10 power.
AJ is up there. Helenius hits really hard, but he's a bit too slow. If he were faster he'd be the hardest puncher today.
Ortiz isn't even sniffing 10/10 power. Povetkin's new found old man strength hits harder than Ortiz.
Depends entirely on your definition of "10/10 punching power", doesn't it.

Any list with Ortiz ahead of Wilder is garbage.ValMar wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:ValMar wrote:

I can think of two: all time or current. Considering he said current, I'd say that's pretty black and white. Either way, my post wouldn't change much.gp. wrote:Of course there are.punchoutsb wrote:Are there multiple definitions?gp. wrote:

Re: Punching power 10/10 ?
We've been through all this already, but he definition of 10/10 simply depends on where you draw the line where someone goes from 9/10 to 10/10. It could be 10% of all boxers, it could be 1% of heavyweight boxers. if it's the former then Ortiz easily qualifies. If its the latter, he doesn't. "10/10" is an arbitrary evaluation.punchoutsb wrote:I can think of two: all time or current. Considering he said current, I'd say that's pretty black and white. Luis Ortiz power pales in comparison to Wlad and Wilder. Is that better?gp. wrote:We've been through all this already, but he definition of 10/10 simply depends on where you draw the line where someone goes from 9/10 to 10/10. Yes, much better. I can't argue with that.punchoutsb wrote:Luis Ortiz power pales in comparison to Wlad and Wilder. Dmitry Kudryashov gets 10/10 p4p
Re: Punching power 10/10 ?
Klitschko, Joshua, Wilder, Haye, Povetkin, Ortiz, Parker, Price, Browne, Helenius, Miller.ValMar wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:ValMar wrote:

Then the rest....
Re: Punching power 10/10 ?
I have not put Helenius in the opening post, he deserves to be on the list, but I am not sure about his status (active or not).Loki wrote:Klitschko, Joshua, Wilder, Haye, Povetkin, Ortiz, Parker, Price, Browne, Helenius, Miller.ValMar wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Can you make the better list ? For me, Povetkin is a borderline case (9/10), Browne and Miller too, I have mentioned recently Briggs and Ustinov. Breazeale is questionable, honestly, I do not know a lot about him, but he could be something like Povetkin....
I can not agree about Parker, for me he is nothing more than a decent puncher (8/10), Martin and Whyte, too.....
I have forgotten some fighters, surely.....
Re: Punching power 10/10 ?
10/10 - Klitschko, AJ and Wilder. But, Deontay swings and the others throw darts.ValMar wrote:I have not put Helenius in the opening post, he deserves to be on the list, but I am not sure about his status (active or not).Loki wrote:Klitschko, Joshua, Wilder, Haye, Povetkin, Ortiz, Parker, Price, Browne, Helenius, Miller.ValMar wrote:Can you make the better list ? Parker is the only unknown quantity. Looked deverstating against lesser opponents but hasn't shown much since stepping up.
I like my list, Parker is the one I'd move down. Briggs hit a lot harder years ago and Ustinov is just heavy handed from sheer size; similar to Miller.

Honestly, it is very difficult disagree with your list....But, there are several haters on this forum, and they will be contra........Loki wrote:10/10 - Klitschko, AJ and Wilder.
