Yup, I thought the lack of dig might keep him at Euro-level rather than world but he was great to watch.mrbassie wrote:Me too.handsofstone wrote:I used to like the look of John Fewkes when he first came on the scene

I did until i covered a fight when he went blood and guts with Thomas Maszuerwich (sp). I wouldnt pick someone who did that to go on to be a future world champion.JamesH wrote:Yup, I thought the lack of dig might keep him at Euro-level rather than world but he was great to watch.mrbassie wrote:Me too.handsofstone wrote:I used to like the look of John Fewkes when he first came on the scene
Also, depends if we're talking genuine, or "manufactured". A whole host have the chance, and indeed could win world titles, even one of the big 4. But very few will really be the best at their weight for a period of time, no matter how short a period.
Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
Can I ask what exactly you've seen in Eubank Jr to believe he can win a world title? From what iv seen he won't win a British titlemrbassie wrote:Quigg

Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
A lot of people mentioning the obvious names. Barker/Groves/Quigg will all have a chance to win one in the next few months.
From the prospect range I like Yafai to win one. Think Galahad can win a world title as well. Also if people are talking big names il take Degale to win one before Groves does

Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
Froch could set Groves back more than Groves set De Gale back. Weve all seen Groves struggle with pressure. All about levels, Froch could (and on evidence should) de rail Groves in spectacular fashion. Why isnt Groves building against A level opposistion rather than jumping to eliete. This is all depending on Froch not looking past George, evidence says he wont... Kessler a far more sensible fight, surely.jackukmma wrote:A lot of people mentioning the obvious names. Such a shame if Macklin doesnt win one. But then Barker and Murray may have a couple more shots and not get one either. Surely one will, and defend against other(s)
Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
As a side kiko martinez gets a shot at the IBF on the Barker undercard, he wont, surely.... punchers chance.

replace "a few breaks" with "more breaks than pol pot has victims then" and "every" with "a very slight"expe wrote:semtexreilly wrote:if he gets a few breaks ronnie the shark clark has every chance!!!
Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
I think he looks ok considering how little experience he has. Also, nobody said it had to be a credible world title.jackukmma wrote:Can I ask what exactly you've seen in Eubank Jr to believe he can win a world title? From what iv seen he won't win a British titlemrbassie wrote:Quigg

Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
It's funny how people can have opinions without seeing him?? Ronnie has 3 things that are almost unteachable in boxing.. 1) A big puncher 2) A very good chin 3) A massive heart will never give in.. Given the chances he will get to Euro level he's very much the Ricky Burns or Jamie McDonnell type slipping under the radar..Wales wrote:replace "a few breaks" with "more breaks than pol pot has victims then" and "every" with "a very slight"expe wrote:semtexreilly wrote:if he gets a few breaks ronnie the shark clark has every chance!!!
Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
I am impressed what I am seeing with Anthony Ogogo.
Re: pick a brit boxer that will go on to win a world title
I wouldn't say he's a huge puncher given he only has 4 stoppages in 10 fights. Burns and McDonnell went under the radar at an age where they had time to improve and progress, Ronnie's older than McDonnell and only 2 years younger than Burns. At the same age Burns was preparing to fight Katsidis and become a 2 weight world champion.daviddee wrote:It's funny how people can have opinions without seeing him?? I'm pretty sure I said big puncher not huge... Ronnie has fought some tough guys and took fights on days notice.. As for his punch power he put Abdul Rashid down twice this guy is as tough as they come never been down in over 100 amateur and pro fights combined. The 4 stoppages in 10 fights don't really tell a story as for his age he is late to boxing as he came from Kickboxing where he was a Amateur and Pro World Champion.. Undisputed lightweight champion.. Like I have said he has a chance of getting there but it's down to him.. He is good enough for British and Euro level and then is up too him to put in the hard work and dedication to try and get to world level.. But step by step British and commonwealth first then we will see

You did the worst pick out of everybody on this threadTarkus wrote:What about Jenkins, he looked mighty impressive winning Prizefighter.
Your lack of boxing knowledge is hilarious
O'Hara Davies was gonna beat Taylor easily according to you , and you tipped Takam to beat Povetkin, etc

You went through thousands of posts for that? If you're older than 12 that's some disturbing behavior.

Luke Campbell and Callum Smith have a tough road but it is there if they want it bad enough.
Taylor in a year or two.
AJ gets another in the next 12 months.
Katie Taylor is lining up to the softest belt at lightweight, can't see her beating Persoon just yet.
I also think Frampton has another big win left in him

Nothing wrong with reviving old threads
This one is still valid and interesting if you go from the beginning and see how people's picks have turned out...
