Vasyl Lomachenko vs Miguel Marriaga

Post by handsofstone »

Lomachenko defending his WBO Super Featherweight title this sat against 2 time world Featherweight challenger Marriaga, pretty poor fight for all involved, I cant see why this fight was made at all, as tough as Marriaga is, he's just another Sosa IMO, game but outgunned, he gave Valdez a real fight last time but still lost wide on all the cards and that was down at FW so why has he managed to get this gig? A step back for Loma and a strange choice of opponent, Marriaga lost a shut out to Walters a couple of years back as well

Still be great to see Lomachenko do his thing he's my favourite boxer of all time probably, I just wish he wasn't wasting his time with this fight, there's nothing to gain from this fight, even if he were to stop Marriaga, the fact that Marriaga is a Featherweight takes the shine off

If Lomachenko underestimates Marriaga and thinks he can play with him it might give Miguel a slight chance of success in the fight but more than likely Loma plays with him before its stopped late on

I guess this is a warm up to Rigo by the end of the year. A nice workout, but not dangerous enough to mess things up. I remember Zab Judah and Kostya Tszyu fighting Vester and Urkal in their warm ups before their showdown.

Terrible fight. The guy has absolutely no chance. Pretty shocking that they would bother taking this fight. I think Lomas lack of power is going to be his undoing btw but it won't happen in this fight.

Hard to see how he got this fight.

Marriaga is a exciting fighter but he's been exposed by fighters of less calibre than Loma.

To me it's a showcase fight. He will come forward swinging and make Loma look exceptional (which he usually does to be fair)

Routine win for Loma. I'd like to see him really push for the KO from the start though. Love watching him but I'd like to see a bit more spite in his work rather than just going through the gears with a guy who really shouldn't be in there with him.

Surely the only reason this fight is happening is that Lomachenko has a huge fight lined up afterwards, Rigondeaux hopefully

I'll be watching, it's free so what the heck.
Beltran on the undercard - OK he is old but still could be entertaining.
So what if Marriaga is another Sosa, I enjoyed that fight, the kid had so much heart.
It's a stay busy fight for Loma and there isn't exactly a queue forming up to fight him is there?
Ya gotta take what you can get

It's so conclusive it's not worth it. I'll watch the two minute highlight video.

I like the look of Marriaga and he would give any top featherweight a decent fight but he was beaten fairly by Valdez. I don't rate Valdez anywhere near as highly as others and he would get whooped by Lomachenko as well.

Have people read this crap ?

Pathetic

No wonder Lomachenko can't get people to fight him.

They had offered Salido $720k for rematch recently and he wouldn't take the fight.

Caught this earlier in the morning,

Just way too one sided for me to get into. Lomachenko needs a top quality fight next.

Anything which isn't one of Salido,Berchelt Corrales Garcia or a lightweight belt holder isn't good enough for me.

He is an elite talent and needs the big fights now.

I didn't include Gervonta Davis for a reason, his comments this week regarding the fight were absolutely pathetic.

Boring fight, I just hope you guys didn't have to endure the American commentary. I've never seen such slobbering on the nob of a boxer.

As expected total domination from Lomachenko, easy nights work, scored a couple of knockdowns although neither hurt Marriaga, Lomachenko's footwork just putting Marriaga under constant pressure and the speed troubled him as well

Great to see Lomachenko do his thing but nothing learned, hopefully he gets a big fight next
