I do not consider 3G's list of victims as unimpressive as most do. I also do not feel that Jacobs has ever ducked 3G. He just was not ready. Now he is.Kalan wrote:He was for many years, starting with Sergio Martinez... Re: Most ducked boxer?
Boxing followers seem to struggle with this notion; there are always young guys coming up and old guys going out. Whatever young guys the old guys missed they're automatically ducking...so are the supposed to just fight on forever then? Same with young guys. Just because you're good and have 10-15 fights doesn't mean you're ready for a title shot ESPECIALLY in this day and age where so much promotion and fanfare lies around records.Tanzio wrote:I do not consider 3G's list of victims as unimpressive as most do. We're not talking about fighting everybody... After Lineal Champ Martinez ducked GGG for years and finally lost to Cotto -- Cotto didn't fight for a full year after he won the title.. Then Cotto fought Geale who was easily wiped out in 3 rounds by Golovkin.. Then Cotto fought Canelo.. All the while Golovkin was the mandatory challenger and the Lineal Champions kept getting "exceptions" if they promised to fight Golovkin next.. They never did.. Then Canelo was allowed to fight Amir Khan... Then he simply abandoned the Middleweight Title rather than fight GGG.punchoutsb wrote:Boxing followers seem to struggle with this notion; there are always young guys coming up and old guys going out. You cant fight everybody, but there's usually a most logical opponent out there for you to fight... When those fights never happen something is wrong.

3G, all-time, either the mighty Charlie Burley, or Mike McCallum.

Re: Most ducked boxer?
Why are so many people convinced about Gennady Golovkin being the “most ‘ducked’ boxer”, when there’s almost no evidence of Tom Loeffler or anyone from K2 attempting to initiate contract negotiations with some of the fighters that supposedly avoided him?
I’m not trying to disparage GGG, but there is myth that has been perpetuated by the Lemming-like masses to the point that raw repetition alone has somehow displaced the truth.
