Seen him once - didn't look to carry much power.

Seems to fit the profile of the last opponent. Undefeated, but seemingly with little power (Baker and Cole have a combined 1 stoppage in 10 fights) , and not even in BoxRec's top 650. I haven't seen Baker fight, but, like Cole, it doesn't appear that he's had it all his own way even against very limited opposition.

Dont you think its a step backwards for Benn? Surely he should be wanting fights that he is going to learn something. Obviously Baker knows his limitations as he wouldnt want to be going down the journeyman route already.

Decent payday - Sky Sports - get a lucky punch and he's laughing.

Benn needs to get active after jaw injury - he'll have another 2-3 like this. He didn't have a lot of amateur fights either.

The money they offer for Benn isn't great.

Drew a Round with Dan Car and only just beat Danny Little, it will be easier to KO Baker then Little or Car..

I know we all have views on Conor Benn but I dont see why boxers want to go backwards rather than forwards. Benn has more experience with 7 fights so fighting another novice of 4 fights makes no sense. I could understand Benn fighting a novice of 4 fights if those 4 wins were of substance and were of decent opposition and 4 ko's. beating 4 guys on points and of nothing to note is just a waste of time in my opinion for Benn. Its obvious that Baker has no ambition in the sport as he is well prepared to get beat. Benn's team are not going to risk getting beat this early on so its a fact the Baker has been picked just to put another win on Benn's record, nothing more really. At this point in Benn's career he should now be moving to to boxers in the british top 20 Conor Benn is ranked 35 by Boxrec in Britain, Baker 80. Laughable really.

I don't know anything about Kane Baker but how much longer is Conor Benn going to duck Robin Deakin?

Don't know enough about Baker to say much about his style or ability but looking at their records, it's Bakers first 6 round fight and Benn's 3rd.

Baker up to this point hasn't fought anyone with a positive record and mainly fought journeymen boxers and stayed in the midlands area to fight, so this is his first fight away from home and in London as well, where as Benn has fought in the London area 4 times but it's his first visit to York Hall.
Baker is the older so he might have a mental edge as the elder of the two but with Benn having 5 KO/TKO wins (4 in his last 5 fights) I think the mental edge is at least level as far as maturity goes.

The deciding thing for me is who Benn fought last, Mike Cole - 29 years old and 4/0/1 - so he has fought an older opponent with a positive record before and even worse Cole was a southpaw, Baker is orthodox like Benn so he won't have to wait around to find his timing and get used to fighting someone who fights completely different to himself.

Its a ridiculous assumption people can be sensible or knowledgeable all the time. This forum is not Mensa related. Youve got to lighten up really. Life is too short to spit out the dummy
