Who would have thought it?
Just last year everybody laughed at me when I said something similar about him.
And TBH I genuinly wouldn't be surprised if Wilder actually really does want AJ, somehow Wilder has to learn that he simply doesn't matter that much, while others do much more. He always got the fights he wants, and now he finally meets someone who says no, you're not good enough, proof yourself first, but Wilder doesn't dare that, too much risk. I hope AJ fights Ortiz one month after Pulev.
I always suspected Wilder would duck big fights from the interview after he got his belt in the ring. He was asked if Wlad was next and he said Wlad is old and he will retire. And never called him out in the preceding 2 1/2 years.
Says it all.

Hearn wants no part of Ortiz. They wait to get him older and older. They should fight him now instead of Bumlev.
Ortiz called out Joshua several times last summer and they picked Breazale instead of him
It seems like belt holders fighting mandatories is important when they want it to be important. Lots of examples out there. If Joshua wants the biggest money fight like he says, he should fight Wilder next. The ball is in his court, not Wilder's.
About the only thing harder than collecting all the belts is keeping them. ABC's are never on the same page, and each thinks they are more important than the other. Pulev thinks he should be next as IBF mandatory. Ortiz thinks he should be next as WBA mandatory. Wilder thinks he should be next for a unification fight. None of the three are wrong. Like I said, we will learn a lot about Hearn/Joshua with their choice, kind of like we did when they chose Breazeale over Ortiz.

I thought Wilder and Ortiz were in negotiations to fight??? ... How long are these damned negotiations going to last??? ... If Wilder really wants to fight Ortiz I think they would have a deal by now. What can it be??? These guys are both undefeated with phenomenal KO records.. It's a promoter's dream.
I'll be amazed if Wilder-Ortiz gets done and they actually fight... I saw situations like this with Lennox Lewis trying to get fights with Tyson and Holyfield.
Dream fights go begging for a long, long, long time... That's almost always been the case... But why??? Just fight!! You can have a rematch, sh!t.

Yea, sorry, but to me this sounds like some tipical Wilder bullshit.
"Look, I'm going to challenge, or fight somebody!"
"Joke ofcourse lol, this fight can't happen because whatever"
If Wilder really saw Stiverne as somebody to get rid of, he would have fought him around may/april.
Or just in case as soon as Parker had his Fury fight rescheduled, but don't abuse it as an excuse to avoid another top contender, or well, rank 5 ish guy.
