We are limited by our potential. However, most never scratch the surface of our potentials, giving those of us with more limited potential the opportunity to excell beyond most who possess greater potential.
Of course, the argument can be made that those who fail to maximize their potential never actually possessed it. In other words, our potential is the sum of what we accomplish.

In Mallorca there is a season as it becomes very quiet in the winter months, therefore I come back home and do a take that tribute and fit in as much table tennis as I can.

A great many people waste their potential.. Max Baer never learned how to box.. He claimed he wasn't interested because the fans wanted to see a fight and not a boxing match. He also said that he was never meant to be a fighter. That might be true, but with that attitude it's hard to develop superior skills. I think the Joe Louis fight convinced him he'd never be a skilled boxer. Louis advanced phenomenally in his 1st year under Blackburn. As talented as Louis was, he attributed his success to Blackburn. Shorter and with a much shorter reach Louis jabbed the crap out of Baer -- a little like Mikey Garcia poppin' Broner with jabs with none coming back.
Van Cliburn had phenomenally long fingers and exceptional keyboard range on the piano -- but his mother was also a gifted pianist who started teaching him at the age of 3... His mother studied under one of the greatest pianists, Arthur Friedheim... Sometimes great talent meets great opportunity.
