Cajun Boyd Trahan Inaccurate Record

Post by EriqS »

Regarding boxer Boyd Trahan, the record you have listed for him is wrong. He is not 9-0. At one time, you actually had him listed as 6-1, but for some reason, you decided to remove his KO 1 loss and add three wins. Actually, his true record is 12-1 with 7 wins by KO. During the late 80's, he actually got knocked out in the 1st rounnd on USA Today's Tuesday Night Fights. The fight was televised from Louisiana, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

EriqS is right.

I was at the fight in Baton Rouge where Trahan got knocked out in the first by a Mexican boxer. Trahan was knocked cold and was on the canvas for quite a few minutes. I think Trahan retired shortly thereafter.

I would love to know who the Mexican fighter was and whatever happened to him. That young guy had some real ability.

The boxer who knocked him out was Rico Velasquez, who suffered a tragic death from a boxing match against David Gonzales in April 1988. Looks like the Trahan fight took place in May of 1987.

I found the bout you referred to, and have entered it. Based on newspaper reports, we are missing one more win for Trahan.
