Miguel Cotto at 168
Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
Yes, he landed a lot on the previous opponent, and though he rocked him a few times he couldn't put him down, as was the case when Wilder unloaded on Duhaupas for 11 rounds.

Ok, perhaps the analogy was better than I gave it credit for. Again, if you're measuring him by wilder than what has he really done? Wilder still has an unknown quality at least.

Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
Is it that he's Canadian?
Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
I don't actually think he's as dangerous a puncher as Wilder, but I just brought up DW because I know you really rate his power, and even he's had fights where he lands everything but couldn't put his man down.
I think Lemieux is an elite puncher among the current middleweights, though some do overstate his power. I think the issues for him are (1) actually landing clean (the Argentinian he recently won a decision over got hit with very little of note) and (2) he telegraphs a lot of his shots and allows guys to brace themselves for what's coming. I think he has the type of power that could make the smaller, older Cotto weary and leave him broken down over the rounds.

Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
Wilder's power is the one thing that's taken him as far as he's come. He flails with his punches, and is WIDE the f*ck open a great deal of the time. If not for the fact that he had the kinda punching power that made guys worry he'd have already been knocked out by now. He's definitely a hard puncher no question. Punching power seems to be about all he has though, for power to be the ONLY thing in your arsenal though and it to have taken you as far as it's taken Wilder though you must have some pretty serious power.crusader wrote:I don't actually think he's as dangerous a puncher as Wilder, but I just brought up DW because I know you really rate his power, and even he's had fights where he lands everything but couldn't put his man down.

He'd get KO's a lot quicker in his fights if he'd work on his technique, and his accuracy. His shots are so wild it takes him several rounds before he can land something on the button.

I don't rate much at all from heavyweights outside of Joshua. I do think wilder has a ton of power, his poor technique exemplifies it imo. But if he ever steps up I wouldn't be shocked if his power turned up as overrated as lemieux. Yet to be proven.

Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
Someone suggested that Lemieux (whose name is in the mix as a Cotto opponent) is like a MW Wilder. That's how it got started...
Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
I wondered that myself, but you know what the difference is between me and you? Rather than asking this stupid question I backtracked through the thread, and saw how Wilder's power came into the conversation.MachoTime wrote:WTF does Wilder have to do in a 168 Miguel Cotton Thread?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I don't rate much at all from heavyweights outside of Joshua. It came about as a comparative power discussion. I know all that is probably over your head, but it makes sense.

Or he could cut off a limb and go for a title at 135...halfamill wrote:Cotto is retiring this year. Why not aim to be a 5 division champion by facing one of the weaker title holders like Tyron Zeuge? He won't have to drain and has nothing to lose. He could of easily faced De Carolis while he was a champion as he was one of the weakest title holders at 168 in recent years.

Nah what's gonna happen is you're going to show typical troll behavior like they all do. Where you get the idea that I give a f*ck whether or not Floyd beats McGregor I'm sure I don't know, but I can predict what you're gonna do.
You're gonna be talking sh*t relentlessly for the next few weeks as if you're personally gonna be the one that's gonna win something. Then Floyd's gonna win, and you're either not gonna show up again for several weeks or you're gonna avoid making any comments about it at all because dudes like you can't handle being wrong which must mean it's hard for you to wake up and face every single day of your life. Must suck to be you.
And on that note. I've nothing further to say to you. At least not until you become a significantly better poster that's worth hearing from.

You're a ass*hole. You go and disrespected Robert Guerrero. You don't know what it's like do you. You don't know what's its like to have a loved one dying or suffering cancer you dumb fu*k.gilgamesh wrote:Nah what's gonna happen is you're going to show typical troll behavior like they all do. Re: Miguel Cotto at 168
What does Cotto really gain by beating Lemieux and Kamegai? People said he was too small for 147, 154, and 160. It's not like he would be fighting several fights at 168. It would just be a hail mary fight against a guy with 50% ko power for a chance to do something only 5 other men has done.

His legacy is already set, titles grow on trees these days. Beating Zeuge isn't going to improve his all time standing. Manny has 8 divisions and nobody in their right mind considers it more impressive than what Armstrong did.halfamill wrote:What does Cotto really gain by beating Lemieux and Kamegai? Mayweather vs. McGregor is battle of the as*hole. Both of them are POS. They are scum. Now just accept that for what it is so I don't have to rattle your cage.

Mayweather vs McGregor isn't about boxing, its about entertainment. Much like when Floyd "fought" Big show. Ignore it. Harboring too much hate shortens your life.MachoTime wrote:Badhusker wrote:MachoTime wrote:

I admit being a fan of Mayweather's skills and accomplishments. I think personally he is a piece of crap, much like Tyson, but not as bad. I don't even think of this as a boxing match. Just entertainment.
Let me ask, who is your favorite boxer? Imagine that person fighting McGregor and having the chance to make $100 million plus? Would you be as critical then? You could put many of the top boxers in there with McGregor and the result would be the same, and in many cases worse.
