The records don't fight each other. Mayweather is past his prime. McGregor is in his prime and he really beat Malignaggi in sparring. The 16-0 New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl. Upsets happen in sports. McGregor is not your average pro debuter.

If Mayweather was somehow depriving somebody of their shot by doing this I'd say it's bullsh*t, but since he's not an active fighter and doesn't intend to be regularly competing in Boxing anymore this should just be taken as what it is. A one off event. If you don't care about it, don't watch it. It's not a big deal that it's taking place, and doesn't hurt anybody.

If McGregor was fighting a 40 year old Sugar Ray Robinson, I would agree with you. Mayweather is not really the best ever. In women's boxing, novice boxers have won world titles because of their martial arts background. It has already been done before.

Would it make it more legit if McGregor beat ten nobodies to be 10-0? No. He's sparring many rounds. Malignaggi was bruised and said McGregor did well and then says something different because of a photo that makes it seem as if he was knocked down. Maybe he was. I can't believe people and journalists think that this is a conspiracy. Malignaggi's anger is genuine. Do you think Showtime wants their commentator saying that he kicked McGregor's a$$ in sparring? How is that going to help sell tickets and pay per views?
