World Super Series - Heavyweight

Post by fightfan95 »

So, I've created a Heavyweight version of the super series. I know it isn't got the big guys like AJ, Wilder, Pulev, Ortiz, Povetkin, however I think this creates some good open fights. So how would the tournament plan out in your eyes.

Here is my opinion:

Fight 1 result: Dillian Whyte by TKO
Fight 2 result: Jarrell Miller by SD
Fight 3 result: Andy Ruiz Jr by UD
Fight 4 result: Lucas Browne by KO

Fight 5 result: Dillian Whyte by SD
Fight 6 result: Lucas Browne by UD

Fight 7 result: Dillian Whyte by KO

I'll have to have a think about it.
Nicely done. Would love to have that in reality.

Ruiz wins this.

As much as I'd like to see this tournament. It brings light on the fact that outside the top 5 heavyweights. The division is very thin.

Very similar to this. Apart from Browne KOing Takam and then losing to Ruiz UD.

If Haye gets through a fight and is healthy, he beats all of them.

I'm not sure about Chisora-Miller.
Whyte beats current Haye (he's finished).
Ruiz Jr batters submerged in quicksand Breazeale
Not sure about Browne-Takam.

I think Chisora would beat Whyte again, and if Miller beats Chisora he'd beat Whyte too.
I think Ruiz Jr beats Browne-Takam.

I'm not sure about Ruiz Jr vs Chisora-Miller.

Really unsure about the final. I think I'd favour Ruiz Jr against Chisora. If Miller is good enough to beat Chisora I'd guess he could beat Ruiz Jr.

Overall I'd put Ruiz Jr as favourite.

My guess would be:
Whyte TKO
Chisora close decision
Andy Ruiz Jr decision
Takam, decision

Whyte decision
Andy Ruiz Jr decision

Whyte lucky KO in the later rounds

Whyte beats shot haye
Chisora battles past big miller
Ruiz out skills breazeale
Takam wears down Browne

Chisora gets revenge on whyte in a war
Ruiz battles past Takam being slightly more skilled

Ruiz decisions Del Boy

A lot of these fights could go either way tbh

Haye before the break stops whyte. Against Bellew even before his Achilles went he looked way past it. Granted he was carrying injury at the start of the fight

I think a lot of people have judged David Haye on one performance. he did go into the 12th round and he was injured. so I think he has something to prove given the chance.
HAYE TKO 10 WHYTE
MILLER TKO 8 CHISORA
RUIZ W UD BREAZEALE
TAKAM KO 5 BROWNE

HAYE W UD MILLER
RUIZ W SD TAKAM

RUIZ TKO 7 HAYE.

Wow. Where's all this love coming from for Andy Ruiz Jr.?
He's had a total of one fight against a world class operator in the soft hitting Joseph Parker who could even put away a C class fighter in his last outing & Ruiz hasn't fought since. I think Breazeale is, while flawed, an underrated heavyweight & I see him stopping Ruiz in about 8 rounds.

In the other match ups, I have Whyte outlasting Haye via KO in 7.
Miller stopping Chisora in 10.
Takam stopping Browne in 6.

Miller stopping Whyte in 7.
Breazeale W SD Takam.

And in an upset in the final:
Breazeale KO5 Miller.

Then again, Breazeale was in an extremely competitive fight with Kassi that many didn't have him winning, he didn't actually win a round against Mansour, and he was life and death against the unproven prospect he beat last fight; I'm not sure if the Ugonoh win was really much better than Ruiz dominating and stopping Joe Hanks. That said, I get your point and still treat Ruiz like a bit of an unknown at this point. I thought he beat Parker, but Parker hasn't looked so hot lately and Ruiz had some really lacklustre showings before they fought. I have a feeling that he'd end up dropping a fight because he didn't work hard enough.

I think this would be a pretty wide open tournament, and I think it would deliver more from a competitive perspective than a tourney with the very tops guys would. One thing I'm fairly confident about is Browne not winning.

Not really loads of love for Ruiz from my POV, but he does win it courtesy of beating breazeale, Takam and Chisora, which isn't an exceptional run of opponents. The tournament is full of strong but not so skilled opponents, Ruiz probably is most skilled there

Andy Ruiz Jr is simply a quite fast heavyweight with a relatively good shape. I can't see Miller stopping Whyte at all actually.

Haye beats Whyte by UD
Chisora beats Miller by UD
Breazeale beats Ruiz by KO5
Takam beat Browne by KO11

Haye beats Chisora by KO6
Breazeale beats Takam by KO8

Haye beats Brezeale by KO3

(assuming, of course, that Haye is not injured like in the Bellew fight and that Breazeale is in shape)
