Comparing him (A British Champion) to a journeyman? Come on, he deserves better than that. If he got his head sorted so he stepped in the ring fresh rather than having already done 12 rounds against his own daft head he'd be right up there with AJ. He got Bellew Powaaaa except it's actually power not verbal power. He moves nicely too when he isn't looking like he had to run to the venue via the Sahara desert.

Boxing is a funny game. Not many individual sports where people's real weaknesses don't get exposed until they're in way above their heads.

In the modern sporting world if there isn't a sports psych that could get him sorted there must be something really deep dragging him down!

Best thing they could do for price at this stage. Get him out there knocking guys out regularly again. Get on a run and get the confidence back up. You can sit and talk about confidence all day long but if your not out there doing something that builds that confidence your just kidding yourself on.

They tried to get him boxing but the truth is the longer price is in there the more likely he is to implode. Get in there and knock guys out. He was doing exactly that the first time. Get him doing explosive training. Sprint training etc. Still has got that big right hand. Its all hes really had from the start. Need to work on disguising it better. Be surprised what 4 or 5 early knockouts could do for his confidence.

The alternative is throw him in with anyone half decent and it then becomes a 50/50 high pressure fight

They need to keep finding non-punchers without very good stamina or durability. It's been shown that even someone like Christian Hammer is too tough and can take Pricey's right hand and get up to outlast him.

Malik Scott is probably the best fighter I think he'd have a solid chance of beating.

I don't get the clamour for Price to retire, not like he got brutally knocked out in his last fight or that it's dangerous him carrying on. He's got a stamina issue due to suspected nerves. If he can earn a few bob knocking out c level fighters then good on him. He's tried a few times now and I don't think I could possibly fancy him to step up to beat a b level fighter but you never know.

I still enjoy watching him. Power + vulnerability tends to make for fun, drama, and KOs...

My only problem with him carrying on is if its rinse and repeat. Just in it to see if he can earn a quick few quid for retirement. 2 latvians then a decent fight fight schedule.

Hes tried that it didnt work out for him. Why not go back to knocking guys over that he can. Get the confidence back up there...get on a good run. Then and only then start moving him up. I like the love fight...hes not a latvian bum. Not really a test but hes not exactly someone they ve dragged out of the pub like they done before fighting hammer. Exactly what price needs. Guys around dave allens level. Get 5 or 6 of them out there in quick succesion then see whats what. Get him back to going out there and going for ghe ko. Always a chance it backfires with pricey...if he cant do that tho he,d be better out the game.

Good luck to him. Doubt it amounts to much, but it's a paycheck at least.

I would be really interested to know Love's thoughts going into this fight. Will he take it to Price? Or will he just take the money?

If he can win, what does it do for his career? Would he have a chance of ranking anywhere with any sanctioning bodies? Does Price rank anywhere?

I like Price, but I don't see much point in him continuing. He won the British title, but has proven time and again that's as far as he is going to get in his career.

He could try and get a few wins, and get the British title back, I guess. He aint ever doing anything more.

Of course. I dont see Price any different to an Eastern European brought over with a 30 or 40 fight record with only 5 to 10 wins. What price brings is a name only. I would fancy any top 20 British fighter to beat Price. Unfortunately Price has no confidence and the build up to a fight such as this would give him a nervous breakdown before the first bell rang.
Price is levels above East European journeymen. The top 20 Brits wouldn't beat him, either. You're vastly underestimating Pricey.
Mick, my observation is purely on mental capacity to box and not on talent. I just dont think David price has the mental capacity to cope with fight night. A lot of people suffer stage fright, I do in golf on important events that I could have won but didnt have the mental capacity to complete the job. Pricey has talent im not denying him that its just his mental state competing at anything above a certain standard.
Lets look objectively...

Price would beat...
Gary Cornish (IMO)
David Allen (50/50... Allen is not as good as those who have beaten Price)
Tom Little (he's already smashed him)

These a lot of 'who the fvck are they' in the Top 20

Unless Price has sorted his nerves/mind - anyone just needs to take him past 5 and he'll be gassed.

He was out on his feet after 5 rounds v Hammer.

I'm not so sure you can fix that ?

Can't knock the guy's courage, keeps coming back to expose himself to physical harm and potential ridicule. He'd have been a candidate for the late Emanuel Steward to sort out, too late though. Wish him all the best.

I just wish someone could sort his awful jab out. If he could make that work properly, he'd stand a much better chance.

Why not?
Good chance of reclaiming British/CW titles. Winning the lonsdale belt outright is still a good achievement.

I imagine needing the money plays a part too...

I am glad he is back. I love this plumber from Liverpool. He still has lot to offer on a domestic scene. UK HWs will be queuing to get in the ring with him.

Price v Allen is a PPV.

...well not but very watchable.

He can still do well on the domestic scene IMO, but I don't know if that's what he's got his eye on.

There is no chance of him reclaiming the British title .

He is shot to pieces , needing money , yes we all need that but there should be a different career path for him for the sake of his long-term health .

I don't think he looked shot to pieces against Hammer---IMO it was the same old Price. He's never lost to a domestic level fighter, though that's not particularly relevant if he's still aiming for a higher level.

I think he's shot and I think it will show any time he faces a slightly decent fighter, even at British level. A bag of nerves who can't take a punch - everyone knows that now. I don't even see anything that can be improved on or changed, he just is what he is.

Wonder what kind of payday he'll be on for this fight? £15k-ish? That's got to be the only reason he's fighting, just milking it for any scraps he can still get.

Was he ever not a bag of nerves who couldn't take a punch? He'd been down loads of times before even turning pro and surely knew that he couldn't hold shots well.

BoxRec's top 20 Brits include:

Nathan Gorman
Gary Cornish
Nick Webb
David Allen
Kash Ali
Tom Little
Ian Lewison

How do people think Price does against these types? What about a guy like Lenroy Thomas?
