So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
Re: So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
Ford would be his best opponent by far, and IMO isn't a step down from Burton.

Ford to 'pull out' and be replaced by Olegs Fedotovs in 3......2......1......
Re: So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
Sure, but on what basis? I imagine that a lot of them probably haven't even seen him box and just assume he's significantly worse because they don't know who he is.
Re: So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
Why not just fight Burton then?crusader wrote:Ford would be his best opponent by far, and IMO isn't a step down from Burton.

Not sure. Ward has been talking about retirement and maybe they want to puff up Yarde's WBO rating in case a belt becomes available?
Can people actually comment on why Burton is significantly tougher?

I don't know much about ford, but at domestic level burton looks very good imo, and he should have beaten buglioni. But that's sport, coulda woulda shoulda, buglioni got the win and credit to him.
Burtons tall and throws good straight punches and times them well. Looks technically good on the outside. Needs to get a bit stronger as he gets older to deal better with guys that come to getinside and bully. I think he's got potential though.
Without knowing much about ford... I can't say if that's better

I would say a former high level amateur and championship level pro fighter was better than one who has been poached from a bareknucle show....crusader wrote:Not sure. Ward has been talking about retirement and maybe they want to puff up Yarde's WBO rating in case a belt becomes available?

How has Burton's pro career been any stronger than Ford's? Do you rate Miles Shinkwin that highly?
Ford has had limited opportunities because he can't box in the US, which might help explain why he was turning to bareknuckle.

I would say a guy with a professional win over an Olympic gold medal winner trumps any of Burton's professional achievements...mickey1975 wrote:I would say a former high level amateur and championship level pro fighter was better than one who has been poached from a bareknucle show....crusader wrote:Not sure. Certainly Miles Shinkwin + Smyle doesn't poo all over Berridge, Rapira, and Boonjungnom.
Again, I think both guys would be good tests.

Yeah Matchroom - also Gallagher and FW really don't like each other.

The Liam smith situation certainly didn't help either!3132DW wrote:Ossyrules wrote:I assume matchroom as most Gallagher fighters are?crusader wrote:Who promotes Burton?

No and FW wasn't complimentary about JG in his recent IFL interview either.Ossyrules wrote:The Liam smith situation certainly didn't help either!3132DW wrote:Ossyrules wrote:

Don't see many in his stable going that direction anytime soon.
Re: So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
i imagined you saying that in adam smiths growl. you mean manus the light welterweight???? turned over as a money grab when he was old and then got whacked out by a fool like ford. burton is better than ford all day long, he'd beat him easily so yarde taking ford on is a joke.Boxing Prospect wrote:I would say a guy with a professional win over an Olympic gold medal winner trumps any of Burton's professional achievements...mickey1975 wrote:I would say a former high level amateur and championship level pro fighter was better than one who has been poached from a bareknucle show....crusader wrote:Not sure. What makes Ford a fool and Burton legit? Burton has wins over Shinkwin and Smyle, and a knockout loss to Bulgioni. Has he really shown that he would be a much better opponent than Ford?
Re: So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
So if dillian whyte decided to fight a medalist at light heavy and won as they should it would be a good fight?Boxing Prospect wrote:I would say a guy with a professional win over an Olympic gold medal winner trumps any of Burton's professional achievements...mickey1975 wrote:I would say a former high level amateur and championship level pro fighter was better than one who has been poached from a bareknucle show....crusader wrote:Not sure. Manus won a gold at light welter, went pro fighting at 160 and fought ford who is a light heavy. How much of an advantage did ford have purely on size.
I don't see that as a good win pure and simple
Re: So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
Because Burton has a decent record and has been tested. We know that he is a quality operator, probably fringe euro level at the moment with the ability to push himself further.crusader wrote:What makes Ford a fool and Burton legit? Ford is old and his best win was over a faded light welterweight. It's a poor match but a safer one for yarde, which is why they've taken it. Let's tell it like it is on here and not swallow the bull.

Realisticly the Burton fight could never have been Yardes next fight if he's out in September and the purse bids were being done this week

I'd say the main reason Ford got it was because he'll be in the country at that point and available.
Re: So Now We Know Why Anthony Yarde Isn't Fighting Hosea Burton...
Yarde vs Burton wasn't made because Warren doesn't want to work with Hearn or Gallagher unless he absolutely has to.
Burton fight was a British eliminator which would have set Yarde up for Buglioni/Johnson winner but beating the Canadian could put him in line for the Commonwealth, thus meaning he could still get the fight he wants without having to deal with Hearn twice in a row (or Gallagher).

If we were to compare that win comparatively to a guy who had fought Burton's equivalent level of competition then yes, it could well be a better win....or Maybe you think Burton has been through a string of good fighters...nitro5912 wrote:So if dillian whyte decided to fight a medalist at light heavy and won as they should it would be a good fight?Boxing Prospect wrote:I would say a guy with a professional win over an Olympic gold medal winner trumps any of Burton's professional achievements...mickey1975 wrote: I would say a former high level amateur and championship level pro fighter was better than one who has been poached from a bareknucle show....
