I'm feeling that appreciation

Re: Recently retired fighters appreciation thread
I was a big fan of all 3. People always talk about how boring Wlad was, but if you picked the 10 most exciting fights that the 3 men combined fought some of Wlad's fights would make the list, although his most exciting fights are usually ones he came out on the wrong end of
Boring was good for Wlad.
The 10 most exciting fights the 3 men (Not 10 for each fight, just 10 total) ever took part in IMO, in no particular order.
1. Marquez vs Pacquiao IV
2. Bradley vs Provodnikov
3. Marquez vs Pacquiao 1
4. Marquez vs Juan Diaz
5. Wlad vs Lamon Brewster 1
6. Wlad vs Anthony Joshua
7. Marquez vs Pacquiao 2
8. Marquez vs Michael Katsidis
9. Marquez vs Jimrex Jaca
10. Bradley vs Kendall Holt

Re: Recently retired fighters appreciation thread
Any one know why Marquez chose now to announce his retirement?
Was there a fight he was still trying to make up until now?
I must admit i thought he unofficially retired a coupla years ago...

You can never be sure that Mayweather has retired.davie wrote:Mayweather(I think we can now officially say he is retired)

A couple of years down the line & another tax bill later, he will probably announce a bout against a sequoia tree.

I think Floyd knows he is getting old and will be on the slide.Syntax Error wrote:You can never be sure that Mayweather has retired.davie wrote:Mayweather(I think we can now officially say he is retired)

He has his 50-0 record and a ridiculous payday.
I honestly think we have seen the last of Floyd as a pro fighter
Re: Recently retired fighters appreciation thread
Did Cotto announce his retirement or something? I didn't listen to the post fight interview after he schooled Kamegai, but I thought surely that was merely the prelude to another bigger fight.davie wrote:Mayweather(I think we can now officially say he is retired)

Re: Recently retired fighters appreciation thread
Cotto said after the fight that he wanted one more before the end of the year, I'm torn between wanting him to end with a big fight which he would probably lose - maybe Andrade, Lara and Charlo are both fighting in October - or a winnable defence of his title so he can finish as a champion...

Apparently he's said something like he's gonna retire at the end of this year, but that would suggest he wants one more in December or so in all likelihood.davie wrote:I thought it was stated before the fight that this would be his lastgilgamesh wrote:Did Cotto announce his retirement or something? Nathan Cleverly has just wisely just called it quits....but he made the very most of whatever he had and won a few big fights down the line as well.
Considering the fella had so many options - a top class maths degree - the fact that he opted to box and often did more than ok at a high-level is actually to his credit. The fights with Bellew were decent and he did us all favour by beating Braehmer....
......but I suppose he'll ultimately be remembered/written off for getting absolutely pulped by Kovalev. Nathan got it all wrong that night...but perhaps the best of reasons, he was proud enough to take on Kovalev and did not bitch about getting taken out.

Paulie Malignaggi retired not too long ago.
