Joe Pigford - Opinions?

Post by Tomasino »

Watching some of Joes fights, he looks quite a hitter but wide open. Anyone fancy him to do well?

Looks super limited to me. I guess it depends on what level of success constitutes doing well, but he was already going life and death with Aarron Morgan and I think he'll need to improve significantly to go much farther.

This, pretty much, although I would say he looks to have a good chin too. Of course chin and power are all about levels and he hasn't yet anyone good enough to reveal much.

Exciting fighter. Mullered his last victim in a great scrap.

Doubt he'll go too far though with that style and lack of defence

Hello Mate,

I asked the same thing a few weeks ago. He's like a British Joe Smith. Very exciting.

This is the kid who got hit flush about 500 times before KOing his opponent on a televised undercard (the Davies fight I think?) a few weeks ago, right?

Fun fighter definitely worth watching but I'd be surprised if he gets far or has a long career with that style. I like him though.

He seems to be rated curiously highly by Boxrec - although of course that should be taken with a pinch of salt - and I reckon fighters like Cheeseman or Byfield will go much further. I would expect him to be looking at an Area title about now if he's to progress...

I like the way allegedly localise their marketing around local fighters. Lots of posters in pubs / clubs featuring Joe to promote his last fight on BN. Brought a lot more casuals out to watch the fights once they knew one of their own was fighting.

I watched him on the Walsh-Davis undercard on BT Sport,. He looked big for Light-Middlweight, needs to work on his head movement as he relies too much on his chin but hit like a bloody mule though.

I wasn't sold on Pigford when i saw him on allegedly and I fancy that Keiran Smith might just have too much skills for Joe and outpoint him in a close but unanimous decision

Only his last v Morgan. Thought it was a poor fight tbh. And he embraces his name, doesn't he have something like "the pig" on his belt line? I'd be down the registar office if i were him.

I like him. Won't reach the upper echelons of Euro class, but he can scratch himself out a nice domestic career!

Is your mate Kieran Smith? He's underdog on 365, worth a bet?

Yes. However the bout is postponed due to a cut Kieran suffered in sparring. He was well worth a bet.

The fight has been cancelled for several weeks so don't understand why boxrec and boxing news and the bookies still have it listed.

Supposedly fighting on the smith vs Williams card now.
