Why not Charllo vs Jacobs or Lemieux ??
Re: Why not Charllo vs Jacobs or Lemieux ??
The previous post mentioned that Charlo hadn't fought any top dogs within his division. It would make sense that someone taking a different position would then say that he'd fought deserving challengers.
I think I get what you mean now, but you were hardly as clear as you seem to think you were.

This is exactly what happened with Kell Brook. Fought a good fighter in Shawn Porter. Got a razor thin decision and then went back to fighting sub-par opponents. When he was tasked with facing an elite fighter (Errol Spence) he moved up and fought triple G instead.boxing_rocks wrote:
Charlo is a kind of a champion who didn't fight other top dogs in his division, so in no way he deserved a shot at Golovkin. It would be a good fight anyway, but Golovkin can find better choices after he beats Canelo.
The damage he received in the Golovkin fight might have contributed to the Spence defeat. I know it's a big 'if' but if Brook had seen out the fight with Spence on his feet, he'd have won the fight.
When a fighter doesn't fight the best in his division, it shows he has no confidence in his own ability. Should such a fighter be granted a title fight with a Champion in a higher weight class?

Well, if you figured it out I was clear enough.crusader wrote:The previous post mentioned that Charlo hadn't fought any top dogs within his division. It would make sense that someone taking a different position would then say that he'd fought deserving challengers.

Yep, you clarified after
Re: Why not Charllo vs Jacobs or Lemieux ??
Charlo deserves a shot at Golovkin more than Dominick Wade, David Lemieux, Willie Monroe, Martin Murray, Marco Rubio, Osumanu Adama, Curtis Stevens, Matthew Macklin, Nobuhiro Ishida, Gabriel Rosado, Gregorz Proksa, Makoto Fuchigami, Lajuan Simon, Kassim Ouma, and Nison Tapia. Jermall Charlo beat Julian Williams, Austin Trout, and Cornelius Bundrage. 3 wins against top 10 opponents, 0 losses, and a 435 rating on boxrec. Almost every other fighter who has ever gotten a shot at Golovkin has had a sub-400 rating, 0-1 wins against top 10 opponents, and previous in-prime defeats.boxing_rocks wrote:Charlo is a kind of a champion who didn't fight other top dogs in his division, so in no way he deserved a shot at Golovkin. Watch Boxing much? Why are you listing Golovkin's title defenses like they were before he had the belt? Comparing Apples to Airplanes are you? Golovkin had fought NOBODY when he got his shot.apollo creed wrote:Murray, Geale, Macklin, Proksa, Stevens and Rubio - all were top 10 contenders when GGG fought them! Then he fought champions like Lemieux and Jacobs! WTF Jermall did at 160 to be considered 'the man that GGG has to fight!' ?? Beating a one legged mandatory ??![]()

Beat someone like Jacobs or Lemieux and I'd say this man deserves a shot at the champion!
Also, the middleweight division doesn't offer Golovkin any other opponents except BJS and Derevyanchenko. If Golovkin doesn't fight Charlo next, who allegedly hasn't earned his shot according to Golovkin nuthuggers, then Golovkin will probably just fight someone much worse who has earned a shot much less, like Avtandil Khurtsidze or a Lemieux rematch (cue Golovkin nuthuggers who will claim that Lemieux has done more to earn a rematch, because when your nose is so far up Golovkin's ass, you also have to defend all of his past opponents with your dying breath).

You just didn't go back far enough. It was pretty crystal. Though I don't quote much because I hate scanning down those massive strings so I can see where that can make it seem like a new thought.crusader wrote:Yep, you clarified after

If Golovkin wins , he will go after the WBO belt. If he loses and NO rematch with Canelo , he would retire.
Anyway Jermall has to fight a top dog like Jacobs or Lemieux to earn his shot.

Golovkin (or at least his team) is avoiding Charlo for precisely the same reasons cited by other fighters when they opted against fighting GGG.
Gennady's die-hard fanbase are supporting his reasoning for not facing Charlo, whilst at the same time being utterly outraged and extremely derogatory towards other fighters that applied the precise same logic against their man, yet they fail to appreciate the double-standards they're applying.
I think that's the reason why the word "blind" is an often paired with the word "loyalty", since such fanaticism appears to compel people to intentionally ignore their reasoning for condemning other fighters, whilst actively looking for creative fictional excuses to naively justify their endorsement of horrendous hypocrisy.
They truly can't "see" themselves doing wrong by choosing to hold different fighters to different standards.

First, let's see him against Jacobs or Lemieux. Both are top 5 middleweights.skinnysteve wrote:if charlo is ever fool enough to step into the ring with Triple GGG he will be KO'ed

Roberto Garcia won the WBC silver title last night against Omar Chavez.....GGG already running from La Amenaza too
Re: Why not Charllo vs Jacobs or Lemieux ??
I'd love to see any combination of these 3 guys squaring off. The winner of that bout would be a clear #1 contender for the GGG/Canelo winner. If none of them fight each other, and seek to rise to the top then it's up for grabs who gets the shot next since nobody is taking steps to make themselves more deserving.

I'd like to see Jacobs and Jermall trying to build a name at 160 and take all the big challenges like GGG did till the Canelo fight. Jacobs vs Jermall vs Lemieux fights would give a new force at 160 lbs!gilgamesh wrote:I'd love to see any combination of these 3 guys squaring off.
