Billy Joe Saunders, anyone else a fan?

Post by greenpudding »

I think he could end up being P4P number one, he could give GGG a run for his money and he would beat Canelo
and fair play unlike Floyd he can read https://twitter.com/bjsaunders_/status/ ... 3892572160

He's one of those I couldn't really take to as a prospect.

Now I know more about him and have followed his career, little has changed

Talented boxer, underrated probably, with some good skills but far too inactive.

Despise him. Awful champion, who is pushing being stripped of the title. Bigger mouth piece than khan using BJS tv with Kugan Cassius interviewing him weekly.

He's got a title defence imminent how's he getting stripped unless it falls through?

WBO gave him a strict warning about his defences. Ordered two mandatories this year.

Pre Eubank I liked him a lot - since then he's fought infrequently and seems to have turned into a bit of a nob

If he got himself into shape, he could be up there with the best - a big talent

Wonder how his career would have gone under hearn.

He'd have got the big fights, and I don't think he'd have remained unbeaten. I can see the attraction, in a way, of a lengthy WBO title reign, calzaghe-style, but he hasn't been earning and I'm not sure he would trouble the top fighters. If it turns out he can't actually compete at that level history will not be kind to his title reign. It's already lightly regarded, and if he gets dispatched quickly by GGG in six months or so it could be remembered as one of the most underwhelming title reigns of the modern era.

Got tremendous skills but comes across as unwilling to keep himself in shape, not to mention a bit of a gobshite bully

Probably the way Josh Warrington's time with Hearn ended. Not willing to take the big fights and then Eddie not prepared to renew his contract.
