Both have solid fan bases and I don't see what options both fighters could have at mw to generate big numbers , other than themselves. Belts won't matter.

Canelo always generates big numbers. Golovkin's are far less impressive.

Jacobs and Charllo numbers are fly shhit compared with GGG's numbers. Deal with it!Enlightened-One wrote:Canelo always generates big numbers. Golovkin's are far less impressive.

What has Jacobs or Charlo got to do with this thread? You know, the one that you created.apollo creed wrote:Jacobs and Charllo numbers are fly shhit compared with GGG's numbers. Deal with it!Enlightened-One wrote:Canelo always generates big numbers. Golovkin's are far less impressive.![]()

I don't think it will be a trilogy. I think it will be one and done.

If it's a good fight there's likely none bigger for them, assuming Mayweather isn't making a comeback, they're a weight up for the other guys, and Ward is a weight up for them, so I could see it too.

If the 1st fight draws big numbers and it's close I don't see why they won't have a 2nd fight and maybe a 3rd one!BitPlayer wrote:If it's a good fight there's likely none bigger for them, assuming Mayweather isn't making a comeback, they're a weight up for the other guys, and Ward is a weight up for them, so I could see it too.

True. Canelo generates bigger numbers GGG. Crawford's numbers are by far the least impressive, though.Enlightened-One wrote:Canelo always generates big numbers. Golovkin's are far less impressive.

I think this will be GGG's last fight.

I think if he loses and there is no rematch with Canelo then GGG may call it a day. But if he wins then he would probably try to get the wbo belt.Tomasino wrote:Covfefe wrote:I think this will be GGG's last fight.

Why mention Terence Crawford? How does he factor in the so-called GGG-Canelo trilogy, as per the topic of this thread?Mexi-Box wrote:True. Canelo generates bigger numbers GGG. I could see him fighting on if he wins, though I think Canelo will beat him and that he'll retire.Tomasino wrote:Covfefe wrote:I think this will be GGG's last fight.

Why not mention Terrance Crawford? We're talking about PPV guys, and his numbers are the worst of the ones mentioned. Just saying there is tiers to this: Canelo, GGG, Crawford.Enlightened-One wrote:Why mention Terence Crawford? There has been murmurings about GGG retiring soon.Tomasino wrote:Covfefe wrote:I think this will be GGG's last fight.

I think we have all noticed his speed is in decline and is getting hit more.
Why not retire after the biggest payday?
Is it true that only Canelo has a rematch clause in his contract for this fight?
If that is correct, then it might say something about GGG retiring.

I don't think Golovkin will want to beat Canelo the third time. Neither will the fans.

We're discussing a potential GGG-Canelo trilogy, but if you want to go off-topic by mentioning some random bloke, then I suppose there's nothing to stop you.Mexi-Box wrote:Why not mention Terrance Crawford? You were comparing PPV numbers, which is what I was doing too. I guess if you wanted to discuss a GGG/Canelo trilogy, you woulnd't have brought up PPV numbers to begin with. I supposed there is nothing to stop you though.Enlightened-One wrote:We're discussing a potential GGG-Canelo trilogy, but if you want to go off-topic by mentioning some random bloke, then I suppose there's nothing to stop you.Mexi-Box wrote:Why not mention Terrance Crawford? Re: I'have the feeling Canelo vs Golovkin will be a trilogy!
I wasn't comparing PPV numbers for a random set of fighters though. I was discussing Canelo and Golovkin, whilst suggesting that the former is already commercially popular enough to continue generating a lot of revenue without having to keep facing GGG (as per the topic of this thread).Mexi-Box wrote:You were comparing PPV numbers, which is what I was doing too. In stark contrast, you just randomly barked Terence Crawford's name for no god damn reason!

There is no other fighter out there for Canelo at 160 other than Golovkin to generate big numbers for a trilogy especially if the 1st and 2nd fights are close and exciting! Jacobs, Charlo ??!! LOL

Jacobs and Charlo should fight each other to boost their names, then the winner should go after a guy like Lemieux and we would have a solid name at 160 lbs!

If GGG wins I think he might sail of into the sunset. I'm guessing both may have a rematch clause in the contract.

Only Canelo has the rematch clause... and I can't see GGG retiring immediately after beating Canelo, because there's unfinished business for him.Nightmare Roy wrote:If GGG wins I think he might sail of into the sunset. I'm guessing both may have a rematch clause in the contract.
Alvarez would exercise his right to demand a rematch if he loses and there's far too much money in it for GGG to reject the opportunity to receive another massive paydyay.
Also, GGG has persistently laboured over the fact that his ambition was to unify the middleweight division and a bout against Billy Joe Saunders (I doubt he loses to Monroe Jr.) for the WBO title would secure another easy and sizeable payday.
Re: I'have the feeling Canelo vs Golovkin will be a trilogy!
I will guarantee that if Canelo wins the first one by a narrow decision, he will never fight GGG again. The fans deserve ALL of the credit for this fight happening because Oscar and Canelo wanted no part of a GGG fight right now. Had Canelo not taken the low hanging fruit fight with Cotto to grab the belts at MW, fans wouldn't have demanded this fight half as much as they did.
This is one and done... because I do feel that Canelo will win this fight with a controversial decision and it's over with. He may fight GGG in another 5 years or when GGG really loses a step or two but there won't be an immediate rematch. No shot.
