BoxRec new look
Do you like it?
In my opinion, previous version looked way better. I'd like to see it back again, but one change is great and it should stay for good - you can watch the results by divisions and countries now.

It is clownish. Horrible, awful. Why do websites always mess up something that doesn't need fixing. They try to fix it and make it progressively worse.

None of the bouts are numbered anymore
Re: BoxRec new look
It will take some getting used to, just as the other ones did. A few months from now and I'll probably forget that it was changed...

Very few seem to like change no matter what the change is. It will take a little while to get adjusted and everyone will be hunky dorey again.

I can't find as much information at a glance. It looks pretty good but I preferred the content being primary.

Re: BoxRec new look
Is it me, or is there a lot less information available at first glance now, on the boxer pages?
Before, you'd see fighter weights, opponent's record at the time of the fight, and form over the past 6 fights, just by scrolling down the page. Now, you have to click on to the bout page to see the records/form, and unless I'm blind, I can't see the weights anywhere...
I'm viewing on a mobile browser, no idea if that makes a difference.
Don't get why they've added the extra degree of complexity, just for the sake of making the page look 'cleaner'.

The info is there for me if I'm on desktop and logged in.

That's what it will be then. Still, I'd prefer the same level of content on the move.crusader wrote:The info is there for me if I'm on desktop and logged in.

It's been dumbed down and made to look pretty. The way of the world.Deleted_Scenes wrote:Is it me, or is there a lot less information available at first glance now, on the boxer pages?

Re: BoxRec new look
I like that they brought back the links to each divisions and #1's of each division. Without it, you basically have to click "Ratings," and then it loads the p4p list, and then you have to pick the division and search again. So it was an extra page load each time you chose to go through that process. Not to mention that seeing the names of the #1's of each division helps remind you of who is in each division. Like, if you want to pull-up Scott Quigg's division, you're like "Yeah, that's the division that Leo Santa Cruz is #1 in. So it's the featherweight division," and you click the Featherweight link. Whereas, before the latest change, you would click "Ratings," then you'd be like "Uh... I dunno, how about Super Bantamweight," and you'd see Rigondeaux's division, and you'd be like "No, that's not right. It's probably the one right above that," and you'd click Featherweight, and finally you're there. Lots of unnecessary load placed on Boxrec due to inefficient navigation.
Re: BoxRec new look
Not a fan, why fix what's not broken?
I don't see any positives to it and now I have to get used to a neew format.

Re: BoxRec new look
I agree with Lackeos that bringing back the divisional #1s was a good move

Re: BoxRec new look
yeah i agree that it is good but still I prefer if they just added it to the previous version instead of completely new look

Same thing happened a couple years back when they changed the look of the actual forum. People were all pissy and whining for a couple weeks. Now we are accustomed to it. Honestly, I can't even remember what the old board looked like. I don't visit the front page all that often anyhow, so it really doesn't affect me one way or the other.

Re: BoxRec new look
Seems as though you no longer have access to the KO total during the career. For instance if you wanted to know how many KOs Gatti and De La Hoya had when they fought each other you would have to manually add them up. In the past there was a little drop down icon (no new page) that revealed the win loss record with KO count. Now the win-loss record is there on the "view this bout" icon, but the KO fields are blank. Am I missing something? Or was this an oversight in the redesign? Apologies if someone brought this up before - didn't have time to read every post.
Re: BoxRec new look
Previous version much better....number of fights are missing in new version, layout is unbalanced

Re: BoxRec new look
It's slick just slightly annoying have login each time to view records
Re: BoxRec new look
I noticed that too. I sure hope it's remedied soon. Number of KOs at a given point in a fighter's career, or currently for upcoming fights, is an essential part of a boxer's record.abeattell77 wrote:Seems as though you no longer have access to the KO total during the career.
