Foster dead at the weight?

Considering a thick bet on him tonight but I never like laying money down on fighters who take more than one attempt to weigh-in. Apparently Foster didn't have to shift anything apart from his pants but in my experience it still means he could have been drying out badly this week. He's a big lad so I'm not sure whether to leave it at the price. Anyone got any info?

PS - How do you see the fight going? Simpson looks a decent boxer but I saw Michael Hunter do a number on him in sparring a while back.

Its an interesting one, neither looked good last time out - Foster lucky to get the draw and Simpson comprehensively losing (after getting shafted vs Williams). Strange to see that Foster is struggling, he is a big lad but was once a Super Bantam... I know he has filled out since then, but I thought he would be older again before he struggles to make Featherweight.

when did you notice he was a big lad ?? was it just after he removed his pants !!!!!!

LOL. I'll give u that one Rhino. Am still undecided. Boxing News showered praise on Simpson's display against Morris, but all I saw was him beinbg schooled. Still that Buster Dennis draw and him changing camps after has me thinking something might not be right with the young Viking.

Changed my mind. After much agonizing have gone very heavy (for me) on Foster. You have to ask how motivated he was against Buster Dennis? Furthermore, Simpason I remember struggled against Jus Wallie in 2004, and in Scotland as a kid on the way up. With the fight in England (Foster will be well supported) and as the SN hopuse fighter of the two (and defending champ), I reckons he wins this. Thde 11/4 about him doing the bizzo inside the distance with bet365 might also be worth a tickle.

Tell you what foster jnr should do, this weeks boxing news has an article in it about health and fitness, very good write up, jonny tapia`s life is what the article is about but it is very very good!

foster wins a clsoe UD but i was very dissapointed in him. He kept fallin in and smothering his work and didnt use the jab to get into range. BUT by far the worst thing he did which made me cringe was ALMOST EVERYTIME he threw the rigt hand his right foot left the ground and followed it in, loosing any power and causing him to fall into simpson. Dreadful how a 20 fight pro can make such a bad technical error. Made me want to rip ma hair owt!!

Good post Black Panther, thought it was a very boring fight, seemed to lack power and could'nt get any combo's off :(

Both Simpson and Foster seem to have gone back a bit, although at 22 and 25 - hard to think its age or wear and tear... Perhaps Dazzo Williams did flatter Simpson, but he looked A LOT quicker and more slick that night.

Foster does those weights for his shoulders but he was getting pushed around by a slighter guy and outworked for large periods. After the first couple rounds things looked ominous, though I thought he'd pick it up and maybe take over, perhaps KO Simpson in the later rounds. Which, in retrospect, is probably a disservice to the Scot. He showed the same sort of tendency to get messy and catch too many as the fight wore on, similar to how it went with Andy Morris. At his best he can look real slick and stylish with an awkward guard and an absolute scythe to the right rib/liver, yet he doesn't hit hard enough - often enough - to score KO wins, and, IMO, discourage opponents from coming on late in. Don't know what the answer is, because if he started really setting down his punches he'd not only sacrifice some 12 round stamina, but also his good footwork.

Got to admit though, even though he's getting the proper treatment, the thought crossed my mind that maybe Foster isn't as good as he's been trumpeted. He did look very dry and weight drained, and it was a very lethargic performance - you could see that - but when he did kick into life the effect didn't really scream out. I'd keep him well away from Andy Morris, though if Jr. were to hit form what a domestic superfight that could turn into in Manchester.

What about Ricky Burns? His technique looked a bit tighter than before I thought. Still winged a few but even they looked heftier. Just makes you wonder if he hadn't been brought up against prospects, champions the weight above, on/off/on fights at two days notice, guys 10lbs heavier (which is just plain dangerous), tricky southpaws, thrown in with the unified domestic champ after hardly a dozen fights.

And the thing is, I had serious thoughts he might stop Alex around the eighth before their fight - must've sounded totally mental to people on here - but records mean shit at face value and are the easiest thing to manipulate. See what happens when he gets brought along with the type of match other prospects get? Coulda been 14 (13-10) or so before Arthur... but then he probably wouldn't have done as good.

BTW, that jab was giving me a hard on until Sharon Stone's mid-lifer ruined it at the first break. The finishing punch was a beauty and did you see Richie Davies? That's how it's done. The amount of fornicating twats I've seen stand counting to 10, waving their arms mock-dramatic theatre of the perverse style. Hope Avadja doesn't suffer any lasting effects and, IMO, going by his record he should consider packing it in - unless he scopes the prospect properly before hand; RICKY YOU CAN DO IT.
