Re: Billy Joe Saunders, anyone else a fan?
I'm very impressed by his sheer talent but much less so by the way he acts, especially when there is a camera in front of him he turns into a proper chav-like foulmouthed bully. He seems strangely obsessed with Eubank Jr despite recording a win over him and unlike Jr he doesn't stay in shape in between bouts. His inactivity since winning the WBO is not entirely his fault but he isn't entirely blameless either. He has the missing piece of the jigsaw for GGG but is still pissing away his prime years waiting for the big payday like Amir Khan did. I think by the time he shares a ring with Golovkin (if it ever happens) he may come to regret not keeping busier these past couple of years which will be a great shame because he may just have the type of style to trouble GGG

Probably been covered but what happened with Tibbs? Was he just fed up with Saunders training or lack of?rhino222 wrote:yes it is. ive seen firsthand the progress of bjs. wait for fight night.Tomasino wrote:rhino222 wrote:ingle gym are getting saunders in shape the right way, wait until weigh in for the monroe fight, people will notice an immense difference.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders, anyone else a fan?
I read Tibbs' book recently and it seems he's happy to work with anyone if he has the time, he doesn't seem to want too much control away from the gym and if the fighter decides to move on he does the same without any bitchiness. I got the impression that Tibbs does not cope well with time-wasters or fighters who are not as committed as him however so maybe he thought it best to part company?Shambles wrote:Probably been covered but what happened with Tibbs? Very good fighter when he's fit, completely lacks self awareness when he's talking to the press.

For me, if BJS was in immence shape he'd be fighting at 154.
Talented fighter, but needs to get going and I do fear his lack of size at Middle will be a factor for his popularity etc and wider appeal. He reminds me a lot of Cotto at Middleweight, relying on his boxing cos he power (or lack of) is a big factor. It will always be tough for him because of his lack of strength and this weight IMO. His last KO was over 5 years ago.

2 stoppages in his previous 5, not against the best opposition.stujones wrote:For me, if BJS was in immence shape he'd be fighting at 154.

Skilled boxer, but he seems like a classroom bully and a total dickhead to me...I have soured on him over the last few years.

Makes me laugh to be fair. Unbelievably politically incorrect but think you've just got to not take people too seriously and you won't mind him.
Only thing that frustrates me about him is his inactivity.
This is still one of the funniest boxing videos I've ever seen.
