Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
I seen the clips.
Classless from Dana/UFC/Mcgregor. Its not even leaked phone footage, it's professionally filmed.
That kind of crap is piss poor etiquette imo and hugely disrespectful and unprofessional towards Paulie (and i say that as someone who thinks Malignaggi is a moron btw).

Definitely a bitch move for anyone to release pictures and clips of sparring.Ricky_ wrote:I seen the clips.

Indeed, it's disrepectful to the sport as a whole as well, but maybe that's their intention to lap up the whole boxing vs mma angle they are selling.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Definitely a bitch move for anyone to release pictures and clips of sparring.Ricky_ wrote:I seen the clips.

Tickets sales not going well. So they wanna show how good conor looms against an small out if shape boxer
Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
Conor said it from the beginning, Paulie was brought in to "answer for the sh*t-talking" about Conor's skill/ability.

Connor is a UFC champion for a REASON the same one his not a BOXER because its like he said half a fight if Connor can't fight like a street fight kicking kneeing and the rest of it then his fooooked a fighter with his fist Connor aint he will get fooooked right up come fight night that's a shoe in.
Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
I've said my piece about the clips....as you can only say so much on less than 20 seconds of footage however......i am impressed by how much news this is making. What do you reckon, these 20 seconds clips will probably contribute to a half a million more buyers or am I being silly or even undervaluing it?
Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
Floyd is champion boxing because fight full a fight Connor UFC half fight a fight kicking elbowing like a street kicking with fist a fight Floyd a boxing because he said ain't UFC a kicking kneeing like watch fight night he might.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Connor is a UFC champion for a REASON the same one his not a BOXER because its like he said half a fight if Connor can't fight like a street fight kicking kneeing and the rest of it then his fooooked a fighter with his fist Connor aint he will get fooooked right up come fight night that's a shoe in.

Exactly this..... he's bound to have an element of boxing ability, he's just not well drilled in the basics.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I didn't watch it, I know what Conor brings to the table. If you expected him to be completely clueless I imagine you'd be impressed.
From what I've seen, he rocked Paulie's head back with a leading left. Not a punch you'd expect and it appears to me that Paulie switched off for a second. I very much doubt that was a true reflection of the whole session. More likely a selected clip.
I played football for the first time in 20 years last week........ utter sh*t for all but 10 seconds where I scored a goal...... that single clip uploaded to facebook makes me look like f*cking Ronaldo!
Still....... some of my mates think it's evidence that CM is going to knock PBF out and they're chomping at the bit to watch it, so it's served its purpose.
It's all about the drama darrrrrrlings.

Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
I agree to a point...we can call it a bitch move, which it really is, but look at the attention it's gotten. Say what you want but this whole situation is selling more tickets and PPV. I wish you could somehow qualitatively show the effect the story has had on overall sales for the fight but I feel very comfortable in saying that it's been a nice shot in the arm for the fight. Dana White and the UFC are marketing geniuses compared to any top promoters in boxing and this was child's play for White. I doubt the genius Dana White is the first guy to think releasing sparring footage might result in some fight hype. It's classless to actually do it - i guess their standing in the profession of boxing matters to them since their participation amiunts to only this mismatched circus.caldo2025 wrote:I agree to a point...we can call it a bitch move, which it really is, but look at the attention it's gotten. Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
An out of shape Paulie comes in to spar McGregor. Of course he will land some shots. It happens. How many boxers have beat up Paulie and then we said he will also beat Floyd? I think Roy Jones said it best. It will be as competitive as Floyd allows it to be.
One thing few people talk about is Floyd's offense, and his power to get the respect of McGregor. I think that will be more of a factor than most think. Floyd isn't known for big power, but Mosley for example has said Floyd has equal pop as Canelo. I think Floyd will give him a beatdown if he can, partially due to the monkey comment from McGregor.
By the way, did anyone else think Paulie's "style" when he was sparring? It looked like to me he was trying to do a poor impression of Floyd's style.

Yes i agree floyds punchers are no joke. Very sharp, just has lacked volume lately due to age imo. Not sure about the canelo comparison but then who am IBadhusker wrote:An out of shape Paulie comes in to spar McGregor. Of course he will land some shots. It happens. CM can't throw a solid boxer's punch, he leaves himself WIIIIDDDDDDEEEEEEE open for counters. Look for lead rights from FM after the 4th...tko in 10.

Now lets put things into proper perspective shant we?Enlightened-One wrote:Let's put things into perspective shall we?
Paulie sparred with McGregor for at least twenty rounds, with Malignaggi being a past-his-prime out-of-shape retired boxer... and Conor's team are only confident enough to release a couple of carefully-selected tiny snippets of the Irishman in action, with the sole intention to flatter the UFC fighters pugilistic skills.
Team McGregor flatly-refuse to publish videos showing the entirety of both sparring sessions, which (for me at least) clearly indicates their distinct lack of confidence to showcase Conor's highly-flawed novice boxing ability.
We cannot possibly learn anything from watching the two videos published by Team McGregor... other than their desperate attempts to keep Conor in the media spotlight.
Obviously, you wouldn't give your opponent the benefit of showing sparring video. It's literally retarded to expect or suggest that the full sparring video be released at this point.
By everyone's admittance, including Paulie's, Conor got the best of Paulie for a significant portion of the sparring. Excuse and all.
And finally, this is MAYWEATHER vs McGREGOR. It's a unique matchup... one fighter's legitimacy has been in question all along. Paulie was one of those who talked sh*t, in the media. After the L.A. press conference, the media asked Conor about Paulie. Conor said "Look Paulie talked a lot of sh*t... he's being brought in to spar and he's going to have to answer to what he's been saying."
Paulie talked a lot of sh*t... Conor made him answer for it. Paulie couldn't handle it and wormed his way out.

McGregor thinks he got a chance against Floyd because he got the better of Malignaggi in sparring match. Didn't dominate him. Got the better of him.

Doesn’t “shan’t” mean “refuse to”, with “won’t” being a synonym? Heck, I’ve even corrected your typo! Aren’t I kind?USMCer wrote:Now lets put things into proper perspective shant we?
Whilst I don’t understand that sentence, since English probably isn’t your first language, I do appreciate the attempted derogatory sentiments behind your comment.
Team McGregor published the videos snippets and persistently made all sorts of extreme claims that they flatly-refuse to substantiate, as per the contents of my post that you previously quoted.USMCer wrote:Obviously, you wouldn't give your opponent the benefit of showing sparring video. As much as the accuracy of my comments may frustrate and annoy you, it’s categorically impossible for you to say that I was wrong about this… I’d like to see you try though. Bring it on kid!
From a commercial perspective, assuming McGregor really did “dominate” and “whoop Malignaggi’s ass”, publishing the videos may legitimise Conor’s pugilistic talents and convince casual boxing observers (from the UK and the US) that the Irishman is a legitimate threat to Mayweather’s unblemished record, which could compel them to pay the exorbitantly high PPV price in order to see Money May finally get his comeuppance.
There are two sides to every story and you’ve clearly misinterpreted, or at least heavily embellished, the sentiments behind Paulie’s words.USMCer wrote:Paulie talked a lot of sh*t... Conor made him answer for it. Paulie couldn't handle it and wormed his way out.
We’ve seen so little footage of the McGregor-Malignaggi sparring sessions that no one is able to say for certain who got the better of whom.
So it’s pretty stupid for someone like yourself to say that “Paulie couldn't handle” McGregor and that he “wormed his way out” when “Conor made him answer” for talking “a lot of sh*t”, because you didn’t even see these two men spar!

You must be British. (without the sense of humor)
No. Dana White posted those clips on Instagram; the clips that he thought showed Paulie lying about the Knockdown/Pushdown question/photo and that would tantalize the fans/doubters.Enlightened-One wrote:Team McGregor published the videos snippets and persistently made all sorts of extreme claims that they flatly-refuse to substantiate...USMCer wrote:Now lets put things into proper perspective shant we?

clip 2 - Here is the video everyone wanted to see of Conor vs Paulie Malignaggi former IBF and WBA World Champion @thenotoriousmma
clip 1 - For all the people who think @thenotoriousmma can't box.
The only thing Conor posted was the photo of himself with both his hand behind his back (which was in response to what Paulie previously said about facing Conor with one hand tied behind his back).

OOOOOOOOOOOOO OK
Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
Verbose-One, this thing is being sold to the general public. Hours of sparring footage is only interesting to us hardcores, who are already on board (or not). Those simple clips of the knockdown/pushdown and that straight blast to Paulie's face, are exactly the kind of bite-size promotion that the public eats up.Enlightened-One wrote:As much as the accuracy of my comments may frustrate and annoy you, it’s categorically impossible for you to say that I was wrong about this… I’d like to see you try though. Paulie's own words - "Just to give [Conor] a fair chance, you can put ankle weights on my ankles [to slow my feet], you can tie this hand behind my back, and then put something here so I cant keep my chin down, so I can keep my chin up and give him a good target to hit--who the f*ck does he think he's going to scare in Boxing. I could put the camera guy against him and it'd be competitive... Put him in there with a guy like me... it's comical, I would laugh my way through the whole fight, while I'm fighting the guy."Enlightened-One wrote:There are two sides to every story and you’ve clearly misinterpreted, or at least heavily embellished, the sentiments behind Paulie’s words..USMCer wrote:Paulie talked a lot of sh*t... Conor's own words - "Look, [Paulie's] being brought in to answer for what he's been saying."
If Paulie could have swallowed his pride, understood his role, and just let the promotion be the promotion and not get "hurt" by a photo here and there, then he would still be in Conor's camp.Enlightened-One wrote:We’ve seen so little footage of the McGregor-Malignaggi sparring sessions that no one is able to say for certain who got the better of whom.

He's on the Showtime broadcast team... he could've cleared the air about the sparring, about the knockdown/pushdown photo on fight night, with everyone watching! But the little biddy couldn't handle a couple promotional photos.

Re: Leaked Footage: Anyone Else Impressed or Is It Just Me?
According to Dana White, in the interview linked to below, they gave Showtime a ton of the sparring footage but Showtime haven't used it because they didn't want to make Pauli look bad. Make of that what you will.

Just petty and dumb then. He has his chance to prove the critics wrong against Mayweather.USMCer wrote:Conor said it from the beginning, Paulie was brought in to "answer for the sh*t-talking" about Conor's skill/ability.
Calling in someone fat and out of training for hard sparring sessions is pointless. If McGregor is a puncher at all, how come Malignaggi even survived for 12 rounds if McGregor was beating him? Fitness is a large part of taking a punch, and Malignaggi is coming off a stoppage loss to Eggington a weight division lower, so it's not like he's nearly impossible to stop.
A lot of footage is a way off all the footage though. It could all just be cherrypicked bits.nfc90210 wrote:According to Dana White, in the interview linked to below, they gave Showtime a ton of the sparring footage but Showtime haven't used it because they didn't want to make Pauli look bad. Just take bits from all of out of shape Paulie's rest peroids, and that'd be enough.
