Arum: Rigondeaux, Salido Are Lomachenko’s Options for 12/9

Promoter Bob Arum told the Los Angeles Times’ Lance Pugmire on Monday that they’ll decide between Guillermo Rigondeaux and Orlando Salido as the foe for Lomachenko’s next fight. The WBO super featherweight champion is scheduled to return to the ring December 9 in a main event ESPN will televise.
Arum said that if Lomachenko faces Rigondeaux, their fight would take place in The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. If they make a Lomachenko-Salido rematch, that bout would take place somewhere in the Los Angeles area.

Both are good options! For me the Rigo fight is the more intriguing fight in terms of skills vs skills. Probably the Salido II fight would happen since I think it would draw a bigger audience and of course it's about Loma avenging his single loss.

Some people are saying both of these options are old and Loma should fight Berchelt but they forget that Berchelt is injured.

I actually do hope it's Rigondeaux. This fight would be good for both fighters. If Rigondeaux wins, he skyrockets his standings, and if he loses, it's better losing to a great fighter than getting old and losing to a B-level fighter at SBW.

Neither fight is very interesting, but the Salido fight at least makes sense and might give Vasyl a little boost in recognition. Nobody will watch him fight Rigondeaux.

Unfortunate the HOF shit ran so far over, but Loma did less on ESPN than he did on HBO. That was disappointing. Crawford is in a much better fight and equally as brilliant and obscure. We'll see how that does for viewers.

I hope it's Salido. The storyline gives it some pantomime, and i'd like to see Lomachenko get a bit nastier in the ring.

He'd beat Rigo just as easy if not easier.

I think they could actually sell Rigo vs Loma more than Loma vs Salido for the fact that they are both two time Olympic Champions. Has it ever happened before that two former Olympic Champions have met as pros? I think it would sell to the general public more, but not necessarily for the avid boxing fans. Still more exciting to me than Salido II.

Stylistically I think Salido is a tougher fight than Rigo. Rigo is small and old for his style.

True, probably not too many. To be honest I think Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia at 135 is the fight to make right now. At least a match-up like that would be interesting because you don't know who the winner would be for sure. To me it is a 50/50 fight. Loma probably beats both old Salido and old smaller Rigo with ease. I very much doubt Arum will want to make Garcia or Rigo fights, for different reasons. Salido it will be.

Salido turned it down last time, we'll see. I agree that Arum has no desire to work with Garcia. I can see him doing loma/Rigo, he hates Rigo and would relish in him losing.
