is Mayweather-McGregor in PPV system around the world?

Post by dagilechia »

it's just announced that May-McG fight will be broadcasted in PPV in my country (Poland) and here it will cost around 11$. TV here was always showing fights free even if it was a PPV in USA or UK (like Joshua-Klitschko or even May-Pac which was broadcasted in a first channel of national TV in here) so it is a first such a case here. So i wonder if this fight is in PPV also in countries like Germany, Japan, France, China, Mexico and everywhere else?

£20 in New Zealand.
Sky are not doing much to promote it. It had no mention in the august magazine. The only PPV mentioned in that was some WWE thing, but it is listed on their website.

In Germany you can watch the fight via the British streaming service DAZN as part of the normal 10€ monthly subscription.
Adding insult to injury: you can test that provider for free for 1 month and immediately quit the subscription, meaning that you can watch the fight for free.

Mexico has dabbled in PPV. Or closed circuit.

I recall that both Chavez vs Whitaker and Chavez vs De La Hoya I back in the 90s were sold to bars and clubs.

An admission charge of about $10 was enforced .

But nothing in recent years. Mayweather-Pacquiao was shown live and free.

TV Azteca or Televisa in Mexico televises all the US PPV fights free. Often on a 2 hour delay.

Chavez Jr. vs Canelo was live, however.

Friends tell me that many bars in Tijuana are already publicizing the fight.

I'm not certain if it will be shown live or delayed.

I meant they can't order it from home. I imagine clubs have door charges for strippers too!

I've never known anyone in Mexico who ordered a fight.

Everyone is used to seeing them free in the bars. No cover except for those major Chavez fights I mentioned.

And your imagination is correct....

I think the reason you might not know anyone that has ordered a PPV in Mexico is that to the best of my knowledge, Mexico doesn't have PPV. :TU:
