Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux Fight Now Inches Away From Reality

Post by caldo2025 »

December 9th is the target date with several reporters claim is very close to being a done deal. This would be one hell of a cherry to put on one of the best boxing years in the history of the sport. I've been critical of both of these fighters and their fans that have gone way overboard with their lovefests but this fight does look awesome to me and I really hope that it gets done.

Then you guys can all blow the winner without a peep from me because then they will finally deserve the accolades and fanfare. Up to this point, neither guy has deserved it IMO. Who's going to win? How's it going to play out inside the ring?

I'm afraid this fight isn't going to be on fair terms. Lomachenko will have his way when it comes to the negotiations. It will be at a weight that more suits Lomachenko, which is the biggest advantage he will have. Lomachenko will more than likely get the bigger payday mainly because he is Arums guy and Arum has openly said he thinks Rigondeaux is boring so Arum himself will be looking to stack the deck against Rigondeaux.

So with that being said, Lomachenko will win this fight if it happens. I think Rigondeaux will hold his own mainly because I believe he's the more skilled fighter, but at the end of the day a great big man will almost always beat a great little man. Especially when the big man is at the peak of his career and the little man is toward the end of his career.

I will still watch the fight, mainly because I can't think of a fight that can be made right now where there will be more skill between 2 fighters in the same ring. I'm just certain Rigondeaux will have the deck stacked against him and his chances of winning are slim.

Lomachenko would be a favorite. But Rigondeaux brings a lot on the table. His punching power is bigger than Lomachenkos despite weight disadvantage, his accuracy is also something to admire. These two factors plus his overall boxing skill will prevent him from being stopped. Lomachenko will win on points in tactical match if he will not doing showmanship like against Marriaga.

Anyway Rigo is still at his prime despite being 37 he can still beat the sh!t out of Santa cruz, Russell, Mares and Frampton before retire :box: :box: :box:

Like I and several have said before, Arum will not allow Lomo to chance a loss against Rigo. If the fight is "inches away", which I doubt, the weight and age advantage will both be in Lomo's favor, so he wins. If they wait on this fight and fight Salido instead, Rigo and their team will scream duck. I hope they make it and get it over with. Long over-due. If the weight and age situation was the other way around, I would bet on Rigo to win.

Lomachenko vs Rigondeux will probably look similar to Crawford Gamboa.

Rigondeaux had a chance to fight him at 126, but he didn't want to last I read. Now he has to go up to 130. Really, the weight isn't an issue. I think Lomachenko is rehydrating about the same as he used to when he was at featherweight, 138, last I remember. I could be wrong, but I don't think Lomachenko is rehydrating into the 140's.

Rigo apologists in this thread already making excuses. What happened? He went from being an untouchable phenom(even though he's been hurt plenty) to a sure loss! Finally come to your senses, in a roundabout way.

Funny too, because I know at least one poster in this thread lol'd at people making 'built-in excuses' for GGG possibly losing to Canelo, but is now doing the same for Rigo.

Mentioning GGG's age = excuse!!!! Mentioning Rigo's = legit. Mentioning things being stacked in the bigger draw Canelo's favour = excuse!! Doing the same for this fight = legit.

I don't see how Rigo has much chance at all in this one.

I don't either. I'd be surprised if he wins 2 rounds to be honest.

The effort put into it makes a "can't see the forest for the trees" scenario, perfectly.

RIciculous matchup. Loma & Arum need to go after someone competitive like Mikey Garcia instead of picking on the smaller Rigo and getting an easy win at 126. Arum is clearly not above throwing Rigo "under the bus" since he is the less marketable fighter due to his style & advanced age.

Difference is Alvarez is the one who moved up in weight to fight GGG. In all reality, Alvarez should be he one at a disadvantage but out of fear, you clowns make excuses for GGG. In my case I'm just stating the facts because Rigo will probably be forced to move up 2 weight divisions to make this fight a reality. Arum isn't going to let Rigo dethrone another one of his golden eggs, or he will at least do anything he can to make sure he doesn't.

As much as you guys think the deck will be stacked against GGG, I highly disagree with your claims. You claimed GGG will win but will get robbed, where Rigo will simply be out of his depth against a bigger man he can't beat. Totally different circumstances.. if Rigo and Loma meet at a catch weight somewhere in the middle I will change my stance all together, but I guarantee the weight they fight at will heavily favor Lomachenko.

The difference is you liking certain fighters more than the others, hence the different treatment of the same 'excuses' (e.g age and one fighter being promotionally favoured).

Incidentally, I noticed in another thread that you expressed your desire to see Loma knocked out cold...he sure gets to you Nate!

Rigo is with Roc Nation, so it wouldn't be Arum throwing him under the bus. By the way, werent you going on about how much bigger Garcia is than Loma? There'd be a size discrepancy there too, though Id like to see it.

You still think Russell beats Loma in a rematch?

Yeah, because he realizes that Loma is technically better than Mayweather.

Because a prime JMM would knock the greatest fight ever in Lomachenko out if they fought when JMM was in his prime fighting at 135. Garcia also starches him. You can say what you want, my stance on Rigo/Loma is completely different than people's.stance when it comes.to the conspiracy theories behind why GGG will get robbed. Face it GGG fanboys are scared to death of Canelo.

This is laughable, Loma is great but he isn't and will never be better than Mayweather. You live in you fairytale world, but Loma isn't all that.

Both guys need this fight and the time is now because BOTH guys have commented recently about not being as popular or recognized worldwide as they should be. Loma is really surprised that he can walk down most streets in America and no one knows who he is right now and it seems very important to him to be at that level of fame. This fight would be the smartest step for him to get where he wants to be the fastest and with less risk. The other way is to challenge Crawford and he's not ready for that jump and it's way too risky. This is the next best thing.

 Imagine the 130lb Floyd that took Corrales apart vs Loma. It would be competitive for a while.... Even at his age if they were the same size the odds would favor Floyd. Loma is good, but not that good.

Are their really posters out there that like certain fighters more than others? :oo Don't you find it weird that opinions are sometimes swayed by you liking one guy (or their style) more than another? It beats straddling the fence, by the way, like some posters do. Much safer I guess, then you are never wrong. :salut:
