Cotto vs Kamegai

Post by diddy »

What are we thinking here? Is Cotto so far gone he will lose to a guy who lost to Robert Guerrero, Alphonso Lopez and Johan Perez? I doubt it highly. Surprised he's only -440 even with the layoff.

Seems like handpicked retirement fight against a guy he will hit with everything he throws.

He's fighting again at the end of the year. It's basically an I've not fought in 2 years and can't find a PPV fight match up. The books certainly aren't going to let us make any money on Crawford.

A cotto/Floyd parlay sounds nice.

Toss Porter in there as well.

So Cotto has another bigger fight lined up for after this? Sounds like they dont believe they can lose this one.

Porter fight is off...now Ugas-Dulorme, which I actually find more interesting.

HBO allowed this fight for assurance of a bigger one later. Rumored to be Lemieux.

It's definitely a more competitive matchup. I like watching Ugas.

I agree with you both. More competitive and less interesting.

Ugas potentially becomes a Top 15 Welterweight with a win here. Porter wouldn't have advanced his career at all with a win over Dulorme. So I think this is certainly a more meaningful contest.

Hopefully it means that the next time we see Porter he can just skip past the Dulorme level guy, and fight a more meaningful opponent straight away.

I'd be all for Lemieux-Cotto...I hope that's really the one he's getting the gimme for :box:

I agree. Dulorme isn't a very interesting opponent for guys like Porter anymore. He just doesn't get it done at that level and I'm sure he'd be mauled to defeat at some point.

I'm just to a point with Boxing where a real solid FNF main event(i'd classify this as that) doesn't interest me as much as seeing a top fighter. Porter would be far too rough for Dulorme, I don't really know who to pick here.

I'd favor Ugas slightly, but wouldn't surprise me if Dulorme is able to outbox him. It'll be close, though Ugas could possibly KO the chinny Dulorme.

See, I don't see him as chinny as much as I think he's very anxious and uncomfortable under pressure. He has a glass body, LOL. Ugas is more of a boxer with pop. We'll see.
