Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
Fat Dan tweeting that this may finally happen. I think Lomachenko will be too big for Rigo tbh, but certainly an intriguing fight. Thoughts?

Loma all day
Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
Has there ever been a pro fight between multiple time Olympic gold medalists?
Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?

Loma as easily, and as one sided as he just schooled Walters and Marriaga pretty much. Everyone thinks Rigo is on his level, he's not.

Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
I don't get the clamour for this fight at all. Rigo is moving up to weight classes and will get absolutely smashed to bits.
At least I would be more interested in this than the marriaga fight.
I'd rather see the Salido rematch or Berchelt.

Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
It's been reported that Berchelt may be out till 2018 with a hand injury.
I think this is a great risk-reward fight for Loma. He can take the 0 of the highly rated boxing master people claim everyone (including Loma) is ducking, and it will look good on his record for years to come, but in reality it's a very good bigger man vs very good smaller man scenario. I'd still be interested in the fight due to all the skill in the ring, but I'd be very confident in Loma taking it without too many issues. I think he's better P4P too...

I'd be interested in it, not exactly clamoring for it. I don't see the size being as much of a problem for rigondeaux as lomachenko's activity.
Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
I agree. I've seen people mention that Arum is afraid of making it because of what Rigo did to Donaire, but Donaire is the type of loads up, picks his moments fighter whose pace is made for Rigo. Loma is fast shot after fast shot from different angles...
Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
Also I've personally never seen a fighter able to use foot movement to set up angles to attack from more efficiently than Loma. Off the top of my head it's hard to even think of fighters that have matched him in this regard, but NONE have surpassed him. His foot movement, and ability to get himself in range for his offense is second to none.crusader wrote:I agree. All true but you haven't yet seen Loma against anyone with Rigondeux's footspeed, which will go some way to offsetting Lomas aggressive footwork.

Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
They're probably the same people that called me an idiot for not having Donaire top 5 p4p. His stay at #2 was the most overrated in the mythical rankings history.crusader wrote:I agree. Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
Good point, I don't think it will pose that much of a problem, but you never know. Holyfield probably had the best footwork to deliver shots during exchanges I've ever seen and he was quite susceptible to movement with quick guys. Though he was also more of a counter puncher than Lomachenko.Counter-puncher wrote:All true but you haven't yet seen Loma against anyone with Rigondeux's footspeed, which will go some way to offsetting Lomas aggressive footwork.

I just think people need to imagine how much faster Rigo is than the guys Loma has been scooting round at angles with ease. Literally no comparison between the footwork of Rigo and say Martinez or WaltersSaadOffTheDeck wrote:Good point, I don't think it will pose that much of a problem, but you never know. I don't think Rigo wins, and Lomas activity will still be his kryptonite, but I figure Lomas activity will be 25% down on his normal level as he takes longer to corner Rigo for exchanges and has to give some respect for Rigos trap-setting abilities

Also worth noting that Loma has a lot of success ghosting outside the (stationary) lead foot of orthodox guys to get his angle, he won't have that against fellow-lefty/ farthest possible thing from stationary target in Rigo.

Re: Lomachenko vs Rigo - Who Wins?
I agree, but even if his activity is cut in half he'll still be more active than rigo. He certainly won't be able to embarrass him.Counter-puncher wrote:I just think people need to imagine how much faster Rigo is than the guys Loma has been scooting round at angles with ease.
