Mikey should go to 147 asap

Post by Jip »

He waisted 2 years of his career with his argument with old stubborn. Now with the departure of tc he is in one of boxings weakest divisions. He already beat ab, troyanavski is not more than just okay. Indongo better, but also no big deal and rances, many say he lost his last fight. Overall a division to forget, there is no money to make and no suspense match up. 147 is the answer!

That was the biggest fight he could get, unless there is another big one he'll be fighting at 135.

There really is no reason for him to stay at 140 lbs., BUT there are still some pretty good fights. Orozco... actually, I just checked the BoxRec top list and it's pretty damn awful. Barthelemy is probably the best of the bunch, but I had him losing to Relikh. Division now might be the worst division in boxing.

No. He said it, he is about big fights. Nothing gets bigger than going to 147 and fighting all these top boxers...

There's not really a reason for any of the top 147 guys to fight him. He's not bringing big money, fans, or titles with him. Mikey's best bet is trying for Loma at 135 or trying to win as many of Crawfords titles as he can after Terence moves up.

Mikey has fans and had a boost with his win over ab. He brings crowds. Mikey, crawford, porter, danny, thurman and spence is all ppv material.

Mikey would have to bring more to the table to be worth the risk. Thurman, Spence, and Danny will be looking to fight each other or Crawford. I could see Porter fighting Mikey, but that fight wouldn't sell well. Why would it make more sense to fight Shawn Porter than Loma?

Your optimism is as refreshing as it is retarded. None of those fights do 150k on ppv.

Garcia looks a welter to me. He should be there imo - 147 has been the money spinning division for as long as i've followed this sport.

Step it up.

7 months ago, Garcia was fighting at lightweight, so he probably shouldn't be moving-up to 147 in such a hurry. His height and reach suggest that 140 is roughly the highest division that he should venture to. Some boxing fans, particularly Jip, seem to think that boxers should be making a desperation move to secure the most important fight of their career in their very next fight. Garcia is in no rush to get beat by Spence. Careers are marathons, not sprints. It's perfectly fine to just take a decent fight now until the next big opportunity arises. Also, I'm not sure why people seem to be ruling out the possibility of Crawford and Garcia fighting.

Arum and Garcia have a poor relationship, Arum and haymon have a poor relationship, Crawford and Garcia isn't a money fight. I'm not sure why anyone has optimism it would get made any time soon.

Garcia's head alone weighs 100lb, he shouldn't be at lightweight.

"I would really like a fight with Linares but if that's not available and other unification fights are unavailable, I will have to look at the super-lightweight..."

"I would really like to unify lightweight and become the man, the king of the division before I move up.

"Taking this fight with Adrien Broner is a very interesting fight and I wasn't able to secure any unification fights at the moment.

"But I do plan on moving down and doing that."

"I want to take on Linares after [Broner]."
