He didn't fight any differently than he usually does. I had Trout by a point and Lara by 2 points, but both fights could have went either way. Canelo is 3 points up on GGG with the ring walk, he also has a significantly better resume.
Trout was a lot more aggressive in those last 4 rounds of his fight with Canelo though.
Yeah, and Canelo faded like he always does.

Not unlike the GingerHead haters who claim that Trout defeated him, ignoring the fact that it was open scoring and Team GingerHead knew that they had the decision as long as they avoided KDs or getting KTFO. GingerHead cruised to victory v Trout.
People dispute that he ever deserved to be up six points on the cards over Trout, not that the judges scored it that way.
They can dispute whatever they want to, Team GingerHead was aware that they had an insurmountable lead as long as the did not get KDed repeatedly or KTFO. Therefore they chose to cruise to victory.

If it had not been open scoring we would have seen a different fight.
I see your point.

Who ever wins this fight deserves all the credit in the world. Bearing there's no controversy with the final outcome, although I'm pretty sure regardless of how Canelo wins, his supporters will find one or another to create controversy.

Alvarez is top 5 p4p. Up until now, Golovkin has like 1 win against a top 75 p4p opponent, and he only won that fight by a hair. To suggest that he's got a bunch of big wins is pure fiction.
168-5

That's the combined records of GGG's last 6 opponents going back to 2015. GGG's resume is better than Canelo's IMO but at the very least, an idiot would be able to notice easily that it's comparable to Canelo's. So i'm not sure i'd like to get in this discussion with you if you can't notice a simple thing like that.

You are just one of those GGG haters and that's cool. Canelo will probably get the crooked decision next month so you'll be all psyched so enjoy it. But no sense arguing facts with someone that makes up his own so i'll bow out of this one.

That's how many of Golovkin's opponents had a 400+ rating on boxrec at the time of the fight.

I don't know why you're going by W-L records. There's a 23-0-1 middleweight who is ranked #58. There's a 31-2-1 middleweight who is ranked #74. Another one who is 26-1 and ranked #122. I'm sure you would be very impressed if Golovkin beat these guys, because you don't seem to know how meaningless W-L records are without the context of the quality of their opposition. Seriously, you could have a guy like JD Chapman who built-up a 29-0 record fighting bums in Oklahoma. David Rodriguez started out his career 36-0 against all bums. Donnell Holmes started out 31-0-2 against all bums. W-L records mean absolutely nothing.

If a raw counting of wins and losses determines how good a fighter is, then 9-1 Vasyl Lomachenko would be worse than #331-ranked Roxberg Patrick Riley, who is 11-0. More raw wins than Vasyl, fewer raw defeats, and absolutely no context.
GGG haters like yourself will always look way too hard at ways to knock any of his achievements so now it's Boxrec ratings? Really? It's unique so i'll give you that but now you haters are looking pretty desperate if you're dipping that deep in the desperation pool. I was responding to Lackeos who claiming that Canelo was a top 5 P4P fighter right now and then criticized GGG's record. Canelo doesn't have one victory on his resume even close to GGG's last two. That's a fact.

I'm sure you'll dig up something on Brook and Jacobs victories to minimize it. What will it be? Another obscure online ranking that has absolutely no bearing on professional boxing I'm sure.

Don't gotta come up with anything obscure. Alvarez has beaten 3 opponents with a boxrec rating of 400+. Golovkin has beaten 0 opponents with a boxrec rating of 400+. You should tell us all where you have Alvarez ranked p4p right now. Because the lower you have him ranked, the more I'm going to remind you of that after the fight. If you have Alvarez outside the top 10 p4p, and Golovkin beats him, I'm going to make sure that you live your entire life never claiming that Golovkin beat an opponent who was top 10 p4p. Go ahead, keep putting Alvarez down, this isn't going to work well for you. By the time you're done diminishing Alvarez, a win over him isn't going to carry any value.

But knowledgable fans like you and I, Apollo, realize how Canelo's record was all fluffed up early on and that Floyd wanted to get Canelo while he was young and unseasoned. He was only 23 and they made him kill himself to make 152. So Floyd defeated a green, sucked out Canelo before his career really got going. Canelo right now is twice the fighter he was when Floyd fought him.

Dopes that do not realize simple things like this do not deserve to join discussions.
Yeah, at that time Canelo was green but even if you put this version of Canelo against that version of Floyd, it still wouldn't make such a big difference. Canelo is tailor made for a guy like Floyd no matter if they would fight at 152, 154, 155 or 160 lbs.
They fought at 152 for a reason. Classic woulda / coulda / shoulda apologist strategy.

Your point makes absolutely ZERO sense for many reasons. You can still have a BS decision with open scoring and that's exactly what we had in this one. Two judges combined to give Trout only 2 rounds in the first 9..that's ridiculous. That's just as bad as the Lara scorecards or that one judge that gave Canelo a draw against Floyd. Yes, Canelo had the fight won after the 8th on the cards but anyone with a brain had the fight scored much closer than that (Rafael.Bernstein..etc) and even when you say Canelo "cruised" to victory just trying to avoid a KO, the judges still gave him the majority of the last 4 rounds of the fight.

And you're other point is garbage too so you're 2 for 2...congrats. This version of Canelo is so much better than the 23 years old and it's not even close. Power, speed, movement....he's cutting off the ring as well as anyone right now. The 23 year old version chased Floyd around all night and fell right into the traps Floyd was leaving. To say that it wouldn't make a difference now is ridiculous.

F the stupid Boxrec point system. Be a person and look at the damn names yourself and make a decision...what are you a robot? Aside from the bogus Lara victory, has Canelo beaten anyone even close to the talents of Brook and Jacobs? Not even close. BUT......you've got me all wrong if you think that I'm saying Canelo sucks. I'm a fan and I definitely have him in my top 10 P4P list because of ability, not strength of schedule. My point was not to criticize Canelo but point out how GGG's record deserves way more credit.

This is going to sound like i'm criticizing again but don't you think that it's rather ridiculous to claim that Canelo's resume is so much better than GGG's when Canelo ACTUALLY vacated the lineal MW championship belt to avoid fighting GGG? That's rather funny to me. But i'm pumped for this fight. I think that GGG's ability has slipped a bit and Canelo is in his prime so from a talent standpoint, we have a pick em type of fight that will be one of the best fights in history IMO. By history, i mean my personal history of 40 years.

Canelo vs Trout was a close fight but I think Canelo edged it with that KD but Canelo vs Lara should've been at least a draw if not a win for Lara. :OhYes:

GGG should win but I don't think he blows away Canelo. In fact, I think GGG might get wobbled pretty good at some point and might even go down for the first time. His last few fights show me an increasing disdain for defense. I've seen many good fighters with great chins forget about defense and it costs them in the end.

Bottom line: GGG wins, most likely by decision, but he will leave the ring glad it's over. I think Canelo will be really strong at the weight and GGG a little weakened by the weight. That's how I see it.

Eh, Canelo is faster and sharper, even though he flails it a bit with limp wrists. If GGG abandons his jab, that will cost him. If he stuck to his jab, which is heavy as shit, he'd make his opponents look foolish 100% of the time. Lol@Brook when GGG just stuck to the jab. He crumbled as if he were made in the Keebler labs.

Canelo isn't top 5 p4p, but he is good.
Even if you thought he lost, he fought Lara and Trout relatively even.

If GGG wins a close decision, like the Jacobs fight,
he will be viewed as relatively even with a guy even with Trout and Lara.

If he smashed Canelo, that means he is proving to be a level above Canelo/Lara/Trout,
which means you are a pretty good boxer.

But then, I'd be like,
"you need to beat Jacobs more convincingly, or fight the Charlo at 160".

It's never enough right?

There is no way GGG wins a close decision over Canelo. If Canelo wins 3 rounds with a couple more being close, he will get a decision. Sanchez already said that they shouldn't let Canelo go 12 rounds.

I fully agree.

If the fight looks EXACTLY like GGG-Jacobs, Canelo is going to win a UD (118-110, 117-111, 119-109)

Worse part is HBO and 75% of the fans who comment on boxing will agree.
GGG is in the same situation as fighting DLH or Manny.

I find it mildly amusing that GGG’s die-hard fans (aka "GGGonads") are approaching the Canelo-Golovkin fight using a two pronged approach.

They’re telling everyone that he’ll KO Canelo, but in the same breath, they’re also claiming that Gennady will be “robbed” if he loses a decision, due to alleged corruption and racial bias possessed by the boxing establishment.

Therefore, if GGG drops a decision or scores a KO, they’ll proudly boast to the entire world that they “told you so.”

They’ll also be able to cite their so-called “bold prediction” as sole-justification to undermine any potential Canelo victory, regardless as to how it was scored.

If Canelo scores a KO, they’ll either claim that Alvarez merely “cherry picked” a past-his-prime version of Golovkin or they'll say that the referee was paid-off to stop the fight prematurely.

So many excuses for a fight that hasn’t even happened yet!

I’m not from Kazakhstan and nor do I possess any allegiances to Mexico. I am simply looking forward to watching a highly-competitive fight between two of the best fighters of our generation… and I really don’t care who wins. Why can’t others adopt the same mindset?
