Catching Floyd Cold....

Post by SAPFO »

I don't know whats come over me. I was just about to drop a wedge on a Floyd WIN, and I bottled it and started doubting as you do when you are about to place a large bet. In my head and on paper, this is a total mismatch, I know it is. There is no way a novice boxer can beat Floyd at boxing....

So surely Conor is not going to come out with his guard up, jab jab jab, trying to find an opening and outbox Floyd. His only way to the W is to rush Floyd early and hope to connect with that lucky shot....

I am dropping a small bet on Conor KO instead

I just don't see that happening, Floyd is too cautious and too quick. It's more likely Connor gets dropped or caught cold since he's totally disrespectful towards Floyd's power and his defense is not good. This fight is going to get one sided real quick.

id say odds on CM catching FM cold are 500/1

and the odds from the bookie are probs 20/1.... so not worth the bet IMO

merciless beat down similar too Gatti fight... although it will end before 6... he will catch him at will after first 1.5 rounds

Its so one sided its untrue. A debutant shouldnt be allowed to box in a 12 round fight on his professional debut. Its not going that far but thats not the issue.

My only concern regarding this publicity fight is that is there a script and is there 2 endings that will be decided as in a WWE contest.

I cant help feeling that something is not right and there might be gasps of shock early Sunday morning.

I think there is one thing people aren't considering here. An MMA fighter can take a boxers hardest punch easily then come back and destroy them .

Punching hard is much easier than landing punches. Floyd could do a Willie Pepp if he wanted

McGregor bottled it and gave up when nate Diaz caught him with a solid punch and hurt him. He has no heart. Mayweather knows this is a very easy fight and he can walk McGregor down any time he chooses.

What gives you the impression any MMA fighter punches harder or more accurately than a pro boxer?

Actually, I think you're being sarcastic. You nearly caught me.

In his twilight years he may be, but Floyd has been in with some of the most fast and lethal punchers in the business, Corrales, Judah, the best of the best, none of them came close, and even when he was caught bang on ( Mosley ) he showed a great chin.

This hapless bum Mac will be a walk in the park, a casual stroll.

And I can see from his shrill pronouncements these last few days that the Irish man is starting to realize he is about to be badly and shockingly exposed. Candy from a baby indeed.

Stick all your money on Floyd.

Is there any title at stake at all in this fight? Any newly made up title by any organisation? If not im quite surprised that no organisation has jumped on the bandwagon.

There is a bling belt, don't know if either guy has accepted to hand over a percentage to fight for it. The Money Belt.

The only slight edge I give to McGregor is my total lack of knowledge of MMA has me wondering how good he actually is

Why? The odds are shocking. You can get similar value on Cleverly to beat Jack. Who in their right mind thinks that McGregor has the same chance to beat Floyd than Cleverly has to beat Jack!?

I don't think there's any way Floyd would besmirch his legacy by agreeing to throw the bout.

What I think is very possible however, is that the participants have agreed that this is really a glorified exhibition, and that Floyd will carry him the distance, rather than take liberties - what worries me is that Mayweather's promotional outfit, and Dana White have come to an understanding that for the good of both sports, the best thing is that it's a decision win for Floyd.

I find it hard to believe that beyond the braggadocio from Conor, he believes he has a snowball in hell's chance of beating Floyd. Participants in combat sports know the coup - Floyd wouldn't think he could go into MMA and beat a top level guy with no prior experience, why would Conor.

I think it's HIGHLY likely that this is a glorified sparring session, both guys make a fortune, TMT and Dana come out of it like Cheshire cats, and both sports gain from the increased publicity and exposure to a different audience.

It's romantically seductive to believe that Conor has a shot - about the only possible shot would be if Floyd got old overnight, but he'd have to slip a long way to make it close to being an even playing field. Guys don't land lucky shots on Floyd, if they do land, he doesn't fold.

SRR was still beating club fighters even at the tail end of his extremely long career, Roy Jones is still capable of beating guys of a certain level, McGregor is a fighter, but his pure boxing skills are probably at the level of a club fighter.

Lomachenko had 370 amateur fights and even he struggled with a wily veteran in his first 12 round fight.
