How Historic will Mayweather-McGregor be, if the upset happens?
How would this upset affect Boxing and it's future?

Re: How Historic will Mayweather-McGregor be, if the upset happens?
I know it's difficult to imagine, but try...
What would it mean for Boxing, for Boxing fans, sports in general, etc?

I honestly give Connor zero chance of winning.
But I'll play along with this question.
He becomes the face of the sport for a short time and would fight the winner of Canelo-GGG.
Boxing takes a huge hit and is made out to be the bitch of UFC.
But I'll play along with this question.

It will be seen as a 40 year old coming out of retirement and losing to a younger and larger guy in a sport that he once dominated.

Since this is about Historic. Let me drop a little Boxing history on the folks that have been bitching and moaning since this fight was made about Floyd fighting a guy that's making his debut, and what BS that is etc.
Everybody...well most of us know who Archie Moore is right? The All record holder for knockouts. Legendary Light Heavyweight Champion, who also challenged Marciano for the Heavyweight Title. Highly respected, and highly thought of fighter.
His final fight was against a Professional Wrestler...Mike DiBiase (father of "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase). Who was making his pro debut, and never fought another Boxing match afterward.
Archie stopped him in the 3rd.

They will say that if Conor wins, but that is not what they are saying now.zojo, wrote:It will be seen as a 40 year old coming out of retirement and losing to a younger and larger guy in a sport that he once dominated.

True.Sequitorian wrote:They'll all get their asses kicked ... (so to speak) ...USMCer wrote:What about a flood of MMA fighters jumping into Boxing?
But no matter what, I want to see these guys in a Boxing match vs retired/past prime Boxers:
Nick Diaz (170lbs)
Nate Diaz (160~)
Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal (160~ Cuban-decent, street fighter origins)
Cody 'No Love' Garbrandt (135 Champ)
Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson (205)

Is that your thought, or is that what you think the general boxing fan will think?

I know it's a what if question, but when the if is so unlikely it's hard to be realistic.
If McGregor pulls it off he becomes sporting royalty

It will probably show even more that American boxing matches are showmatches, not real matches.

Re: How Historic will Mayweather-McGregor be, if the upset happens?
It woulv be the biggest upset in history surpassing Buster. Pacquaio will probably hit a jackpot and ko McGregor.

I'm glad it's Floyd vs McGregor than Pac, even though Floyd is older and been out of the ring 2 years. Pac's style might get him in trouble.Ricky_ wrote:It woulv be the biggest upset in history surpassing Buster. Pacquaio will probably hit a jackpot and ko McGregor.

It's a farce and won't he buying it.
It'll be the usual hugs and "respect" after the fight.

Hes like the wee fannies who go to the boxing gym and just do the circuit and bags, with his best gear on and an expensive watch.
