Who thinks Mcgregor will win.

Post by Mimmy »

Im starting this post purely for the few numbers that think Conor will win.

I dont want people to post saying he wont as there are plenty of posts for that type of reponse.

What im looking for here are those who think he will win and give a reason on how they think he will win.

I want to be brain washed by the Conor hype

There must be at least one person who believes Conor not only has a chance but will be victorious early Sunday morning.

If that peraon comes forward and replies please do not slag him off or offer councilling but there has to be at least 1 person who has the belief.

After Bellew upset Haye, I vowed to always predict the underdog would win, as no-one remembers bad predictions but you can pretend to be some sort of guru if one ever comes off.

But I still can't bring myself to back McGregor.

Lol, I actually predicted Bellew would win, even though I didn't believe it myself.

Had dinner and brew at The Taproom in Buelton last night. The FMJ v McG hype was in full flower. MMA pro fighter tending the bar gave FMJ no chance. Claimed FMJ can't hurt McG. Insisted that if FMJ engages McG will destroy him.

Ex-pro snow and skateboarder, well pickled sitting next to me believes McG will go MMA bizerk on FMJ and leave him in a heap.
Owner overheard him and said, "would you have a legit chance to compete in pro basketball, Stacy? McG has no chance!"

The bartender then demonstrates how McG is going to land a left hook uppercut while taking an FMJ straight right. "You have to take punishment to land more punishment on a pussy like Mayweather," he says.

In full flower I'm telling you.

I think they have it choreographed for McG to get DQed for choking FMJ out or something of that farcical order. That will keep FMJ's record intact, while simultaneously satiating the MMA fans and FMJ haters. :OhYes:

I do sniff some sort of orchestration in this event - there's a lot of interested parties who stand to benefit from the event going a certain way.

Personally I think the two of them are pretty likely to collude, McGregor must realistically know he'd have no chance in a real fight with Mayweather.

Does beg the question why on earth I'm going to be watching it right?

I kinda think you need it in English, the buildup may be the only interesting part of this fight.

:shame: I have provided plenty of wallpaper over in Offal Topic (not of my wife). That will have to do.

She is the ultimate distraction when I need to get serious business done at a social gathering or event. The highest powered politicians and CEOs are mollified by the presence of her. Perfect cover for recruitment and intelligence gathering efforts. :OhYes:

Cue the hate, but I think Conor takes it.

I think this is a case of Conor catching Floyd at just the right time. Mayweather's 40 & in combat sports fighters age dramatically almost overnight regardless of how he's looked in the gym, hasn't fought in two years, over his last few fights has clearly slowed down & taken more punches with more time spent against the ropes & just taking this fight for the money.

Conor will be unorthodox, has a significant size advantage & whether boxing fans like it or not hits damn hard.

It keeps being mentioned that Conor is unorthodox, but I think it may well lead to him looking even more clueless...

Being shifty, doing random crouches with your legs far apart, putting your hands up in the air, etc. don't really stand out to me as ways to trouble a master boxer.

Especially if he hasn't made some SERIOUS improvements to his stance, and the way he's gonna be moving in on Floyd. The way he attacks normally. Floyd'll see that sh*t coming a mile away.

He'll be able to counter Conor almost at will possibly from the 1st round onward, but if not that early certainly by the 3rd or 4th round it will have devolved into target practice for Floyd.

To be fair to Conor, in MMA he's adapted well to his main loss. He destroyed Nate Diaz in the 2nd fight. He admitted in the first fight he got the weight gain wrong, (going from Champ at 145, to fight a top 175) gassed, and then panicked. He really did put it all to bed though in the 2nd fight.

He's not a bum by ay means, and he'll be as fit any else fighter. This myth he'll gas is borne from 1 fight where he jumped 30lbs to fight a top fighter in that weightclass. This fight will be less taxing on his cardio system than an MMA fight.

I don't know what 2nd fight with Diaz you watched, but he certainly didn't "Destroy" him. He won a close, hard fought decision. There were some arguments that Diaz deserved the nod. I personally thought McGregor won, but regardless...it was a hard fight. He didn't destroy him by any stretch of the imagination.

You are wrong, watch it again. Diaz was sloppy, and was being countered all night. Look at Diaz's face. This was a 145 champ fighting at 170 against a bigger man, not being phased by the punched, and actually hurting the bigger man who's know to have a solid chin. Conor landed 84% of strikes and knocked Diaz down 3 times. Diaz landed 54%.

The rematch was 3-2 McG...he looked very weary at times and saying he destroyed Diaz is fanboy stuff

I'm a Diaz fan. He outstruck Diaz all night. All Diaz did was slap him a couple of times and press him up the cage.

No thinking about it he started slowly and looking out of it at the end of 2 or 3. Came back strong though.

With the amount of recovery time you get in MMA how will his stamina hold up in a fight where he'll have to work three minutes of every round in order to be in the fight? We know Mayweather can do 12 rounds standing on his head, he's also not used to getting hit like he's going to get hit here, I can in no way see how he wins without a freak occurrence, like an injury.

McGregor wishes he could do as well as Hatton did. He won't do anywhere near that well.
