No doubt Shane wanted the biggest purse out there which at the time was Floyd but that doesn't change the fact that Floyd could and should have fought him several years earlier. That's why his legacy will never be anywhere near what he believes it will because he didn't fight the best when they were at their peak / on equal terms.

I agree with you that Castillo beat him clearly (hell I even had the 2nd fight with JLC which everyone acts like Floyd won clearly a draw). I had Maidana beating him close in their 1st bout as well. In my view Miguel Cotto, and Victoriano Sosa came closer to beating him than Oscar De La Hoya did.

I thought Maidana won the first fight too. Even my best mate thinks I'm mental scoring it that way but Floyd didn't know what the fornicate to do with him: Chino showed zero respect and kept on coming.

I never watched it more than once but in the rematch I always felt like after not getting the decision in the first one with his career best performance Chino was kinda just in it for the payday and didn't have the same fire. Didn't he just agree to big gloves and a massive ring and everything? He was already thinking of BBQ's and beers on his ranch.
