It was hardly as if McG were throwing loads of punches. I think he just has poor stamina....he showed the same flaw in MMA and there you get more rest relative to action time.

Yeah that was smart on Floyd's part to speed up the fatiguing process with those straight rights to the body. He landed several of those before he started to really open up to the head.

Thought it was just a scam contest to start with. Still do. It was never gonna be a real fight. Two loudmouth personalities generated massive interest in a non event. The fact it was sanctioned is a disgrace.

Why? All parties involved made a mint off of this fight. That's what "Prize Fighting" is all about. Not the commissions fault that people are really stupid, and REALLY wanted to watch a mismatch.

It was less of a scam than I expected. It was not the complete choreographed farce ending in theatrical controversy that I predicted.

At least we got to watch a sparring exhibition by a past it ATG. I actually enjoyed it, since I did not pay a penny more to see it.

Yeah, it was highway robbery to the highest degree. I dont like the sanctioning Because Floyd shouldnt get credit for beating an amateur. I'm surprised he would want an asterisk on that 50th win anyway. Beat a real fighter for 50 dude.

Conor is a real fighter. You guys put too much emphasis on the 50th win anyway. His legacy is exactly the same today as it was this time last week for most fight fans.

If anybody thinks he's somehow a better fighter by getting the win last night they don't know sh*t about Boxing to begin with. So who cares?

If you wanna say "He needs to prove he's REALLY better than Marciano" or something silly like that. Let me just clue you in on something. He proved he was better than Marciano like 10 years ago.

Floyd ain't the "KO in the 1st round" type. Never has been.

Shocking performance from McGregor. Very entertaining fight, best possible ending for Conor(who is cool as fornicate btw) never went down won a few rounds. Somehow, not a death blow to Boxing or MMA like many of you assclowns predicted. A friend of mine stopped by just as I was fed up with my stream freezing and I was about to watch Cotto and crash. I'm glad I bought it.

Of course but that's against pro boxers, not tough man contest winners.

An absolute farce last night.

At any time Floyd could have upped a gear and finished him. McGregor pawing and not looking like a Boxer was embarrassing - yes he connected a few times but if anyone thinks that wasn't prolonged to make it look like a half decent bout then they are smoking something stronger than a Benson & Hedges.

Look back at that fight, it's staged by Floyd.

Highly predictable posts on here, wonder why you guys who think it was a fix and a farce watched it? I knew it was a farce, exceeded all expectations.

Only winners in this one, agreed. Regardless of how close or how good it was, it was certainly way closer and way better than anyone could have hoped for.
And yeah, Conor is the coolest cat around. Did you guys watch the post-fight press conference? Conor came in with a bottle of his own whisky brand and didn't wait for questions, just started telling his story while advertising his whisky and his suit brand.

I think it's fair to applaud everyone involved for the main event. The rest of the card was crap. This is something boxing can and should learn from MMA. A UFC-event is enjoyable from start to finish. Every fight on the card is relevant and most are entertaining as well. You don't see half of the crowd only coming when the main event starts.

Anyways, people enjoy trashing sh*t too much instead of giving credit where credit is due. This was obviously not worth a 100 bucks, but people willing to dish out that money couldn't realistically have hoped for a better outcome.

To be fair, I didn't think he was saying it was early per se, just saying he'd rather have been allowed to continue until he was knocked down.

Some people won't go down until they're unconscious though how long you let him get tagged standing up before you stop it
UFC fans seem to not understand that if that happens, you can die. Benny Paret comes to mind. McGregor looked like he was going for the ropes for help.

He was in his 3rd, 5the 6th, and 7th fights and those guys had more boxing experience than McGregor had.

When I read that line I had the Tommy Morrison - Ray Mercer finish in my head. :OhYes:
What people need to realize is that in such situations in the UFC (without ropes to cling on), McGregor would have gone down in that exchange, Floyd would have swarmed him with punches on the ground, the ref would have stepped in to stop the bout.
Stoppages in MMA are much earlier than in boxing which makes the sport safer. The real damage comes from continuing a fight with a concussion which happens a ton in boxing due to the 10-count.

That said: Conor was the happiest person on the planet for the supposedly early stoppage. He was mostly in it for the 70-100 mio dollars and who can blame him. The stoppage saved him a lot of brain cells and made him look a lot better than had he been knocked out cleanly. Of course he's not going to admit that! He's a salesman, he sells the tough-man act because people expect a fighter to do just that. Conor played the fans which is what he should do.

He wasn't 40 years old when he scored those KO's though was he?

He wasn't 149 lbs neither. And power is the last to go.
