It's a close one, I can easily see something similar to Wilder vs Stiverne where Wilder boxes to a decision against one of his tougher opponents, but I think he'll be able to get the KO.

If it were 2 or 3 years ago when Ortiz was firing on all cylinders I probably would've went with him, but I think he's jumped the shark. Not so much so that it won't be competitive, but enough that I don't think he'll win.

Wilder on points.

A KO either way wouldn't be the most shocking thing to me either.

Odds are the same as in his fight against Stiverne. Wilder is the slight favorite. Is Ortiz much better than Stiverne? Jennings is his best win and that fight was close until he got the knockout.
Jennings is better than anyone Stiverne ever beat.
Jennings' chin was already exposed against journeyman Alexis Meijas. He was close to be knocked out but survived.

And Stiverne already had been stopped by a journeyman, as well as held to a draw by another journeyman.

As well as lost every round to Ray freakin' Austin prior to knocking him out in like the 7th or 8th round.

Agree...what's been so frustrating about DW is how he endlessly fights lackluster opposition when he's capable of a lot better. He's not some Tyrone Zeague type who needs to be protected because he can barely beat fringe-contenders...i wouldn't bother with the criticism if he were no good.

Not even a windmill in a gale's chance of a Wilder KO?
I'd give him that at least. Hard to avoid those long arms wildly flapping about. When Wilder lets his hands go, they really go- all over the place!
AJ's chin is not granite, and Wilder does know how to finish. I don't think that AJ would have the respite Wlad gave him when he got caught if it was Wilder in there.
But yeah, I could see AJ's jab rocking Wilder early on and a quick finish.
Wilder is dangerous though, to his opponent, the ref, and any camerman that gets too close

Joshua loses to Wilder if he does not finish him early. Same goes against Tyson Fury in his form. They both have good chance of beating that bodybuilder

Wilder's "windmill" is a little exaggerated. From what I remember he does it only when he gets his opponent in trouble, trying to finish him. He admits himself he is awkward, which only adds to him being a dangerous opponent. I think Joshua/Wilder is a 60/40 fight in favor of Joshua, but not one I would bet on.
The door seems open for Wilder vs Joshua, or at least Joshua vs Ortiz since I read somewhere that Pulev wants at least 5 months to train before fighting Joshua.

Your right. Wilder talks a lot of smack, but one thing he says is 100% true- he is dangerous. And to some extent awkward. I was joking around a bit, but when he goes to finish, he is very dangerous no doubt. And he always comes into the ring looking in tip top shape. If only he would step up, then we could see what he can really do :witzend:

Great fight if it happens. But that's one mountain sized if.

It is time to be excited about this when they both are in the same ring.

I would give Wilder credit for beating Ortiz. It would easily be hes biggest win so far.

Really intriguing matchup. Ortiz has the better boxing skills, especially on the inside, while Wilder is the better athlete, with better stamina, far better mobility and probably superior punching power. If Wilder fights a very disciplined fight and keeps to the outside I could see him winning a decision.

Ortiz is calling out AJ again....is this fight really happening?

As Joshua's WBA mandatory, I imagine that Ortiz is sitting on $$$$ and has good reason to wait it out if Pulev gets first dibs as the IBF mando.

Possibly, but Ortiz is the better boxer (counterpuncher) and Wilder's whiskers are well below average. Ortiz looked like a pile of horseshit in his last two outings but Im putting that down to a lack of motivation. Ortiz is very old as well, so that has to be a factor.

Either Wilder boxes clever for a decision against an old Ortiz or, as I voted, Ortiz catches Wilder and exposes what he's been hiding.

Where did you come up with the November 11 date? I've seen nothing in any schedules about this...

In reality, if Pulev has to have a full 5 months of training before fighting Joshua, why shouldn't Ortiz get the shot in the meantime? He shouldn't have to wait especially because Pulev chickened out last time. One thing about Ortiz, he always seems game, and ready to fight. Maybe it is because he knows his days are numbered.

What I and most people fear probably is if Ortiz fights Joshua, and Wilder is granted a pass on Stiverne, who will he fight? Hopefully not another tomato can. If he does, I pray he is stripped of his belt. I've been supportive of him in the past, but sick of no top opponents like everyone else.

I don't think Wilder signs anything before 14 september, the day that the wada lab suspension in los angeles is over. Otherwise he might get tested for doping by a real lab. This is also why he hasn't done anything for such a long period of time all of a sudden.

I highly doubt that this fight happens. Wilder's career has turned into an absolute farce and joke. The inactivity and false bravado is just laughable. It's pretty sad because I think that he would give Joshua a pretty good fight. I think that Joshua wins but that's one of the top 5 fights that could be made in boxing right now IMO. Laugh if you want.

With that said, if he does fight Ortiz somehow...and wins, he really should get all the credit in the world for it. That would be a huge win. I think with a win over Ortiz, the Joshua Wilder fight would be a huge draw for boxing.

We FINALLY have heavyweights but no one wants to fight.
