What I mean by that, is the public won't be overly-excited about seeing McGregor get walked down and dominated by another much smaller past-their-prime opponent that is also a dead-cert first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. It wouldn't generate enough money.

I do believe that McGregor versus Malignaggi could do good numbers though, because Paulie is a character that markets himself really well, he can trash-talk, he already has a rivalry with Conor and the public seem fascinated about their sparring "story".

I also believe that fight fans would consider a bout between McGregor and Malignaggi as a competitive affair, whereas Conor would be perceived as a massive underdog engaging in a mismatch against Pacquiao.
Conor would have a HUGE size advantage over Pacquiao
Not unlike... Margarito.
Margarito was just tall. McGregor is one muscular dude, naturally thick like Canelo. He looked like a light heavy in there with Floyd.

He had a huge size advantage over Mayweather also, but it didn't translate into being more powerful, since the UFC fighter couldn't punch his way out of a crisp bad with those dodgy Hong Kong Phooey style Karate chops he kept throwing.
Yes but Pacquiao likely has a weaker chin and is more of a defensive liability than even a walk forward Floyd. Add to that, Horn wasn't that much better than McGregor.

The public seem to love the WWE style of self-promotion and Manny Pacquiao is incapable of that, because his command of the English language isn't good enough.

Remember, Conor's fans aren't boxing fans.
They only need Conor. The fight will sell itself because of the names involved. Of course, it isn't Mayweather money by know means but Pacquiao against McGregor is probably a better intrigue with more money payout for McGregor than nearly anyone he can fight in the UFC. That is the real reason, Dana White didn't want doesn't want anymore UFC fighters in the boxing ring.

McGregor vs Malignaggi.... If he beats him, let's say in a ten rounder on the undercard of a major ppv as the co main event, then let's make him fight Amir Khan in Wembley for a minor world title and if he somehow managed to win that.... Then Pacman!

Let him fight Paulie. I think Floyd played with him and he's past his best. Pacquiao is done also.

I doubt Connor wants to fight (boxing) again anyway.

He's got enough IQ and sense, to never exactly fight someone who would hurt him or embarrass him too badly. He can fight alot of these little guys, and not risk too much. The money in boxing is insane, and like it or not McGregor is now something of a star and commodity in boxing. Everyone wants a piece of the guy. So I can see him doing the Diaz rubber match, vacate his titles, go back to boxing for 2-3 years and then go back to MMA and reclaim the title just to cement his legacy.
