New UK sports channel to show boxing?

Post by chad »

This week Premier Sports are launching a sister channel which will be free to air on Freeview, Freesat, SKY, BT and Talk Talk TV. Freesports will show live coverage of Football,Rugby League, Tennis, Ice Hockey, MMA, Basketball, Cricket, Speedway, Nascar, Athletics and Wrestling. No mention of boxing yet on their website:

The Daily Mirror today are reporting on the new channel and confirmed:

"The channel will also feature the massive Asian MMA organisation One FC every month and is planning a monthly live boxing show in the UK."

Wonder if this might be the UK home of the World Boxing Super Series? The Freesports website has MP Silva listed as one of their partners. MP Silva are the company in charge of selling the World Boxing Super series broadcast rights.

If not the World Boxing Super Series I wonder who will be proving them with monthly boxing content?

Typical. With Virgin, it's Channel TBC.

They got Spike TV a good year after everybody else, even freeview. I can see this being something I have to watch on the small freeview telly in my bedroom.

After harassing them for a bit Freesports have confirmed their first live show will be from Sheffield on the 13th October. The show is Sam Sheedy Vs. Liam Cameron for the Commonwealth title. Looks like Dennis Hobson has landed himself a TV deal.

Great for these lads who wouldn't normally get any recognition, was scanning some of the UK shows coming up and saw some cracking fights like Tom Little vs Josh Sandland. Would hope a lot of these small hall shows get on this channel.

They have the MTK Meadowbank bill in October - Cornish/Sexton and Simmons/Askin bouts but they have not been buying or showing as much recently.

The Flyweights on Sat I'd have expected on BN but ended up on Sky.

That's a good card but it's a while away ain't it? But yeah I thought the same I was looking forward to it but didn't bother because of a lack of Sky.
