Re: Dumbest quote (most often repeated) ...
For boxers getting interviewed, "at the end of the day" seems to be used over and over.

Funny and dumb because it's an oxymoron. I know who the fighters are because I watch boxing.

"I don't listen to the radio anymore because I don't know who the new singers (groups) are."
That's as close as I can get.

I hate that saying; is there only one day forever? I hate almost as much as the annoying business speak like; think outside the box, blue sky thinking and in train.Badhusker wrote:For boxers getting interviewed, "at the end of the day" seems to be used over and over.

Not sure about worst quote, but this is the worst post fight interview.

He doesn't struggle with southpaws but has to fight with a high guard because the shoulder roll defense is open to lefts. That's why McGregor was stupid to spar Malignaggi in the shoulder roll because he would always be able to hit him there. Also makes me think Malignaggi did that on purpose.
Re: Dumbest quote (most often repeated) ...
Floyd has really only struggled with Castillo, Maidana, Canelo, De La Hoya and Cotto. Struggled is a too stronger word - didn't beat convincingly.Chippo wrote:Floyd struggles with southpaws.
None of the above are southpaws. Although the latter are left handed, still fight orthodox.

Right ... they got it backwards ... they don't know who the fighters are because they don't watch boxing anymore ... so friggin' dumb ...IKSRTFO wrote:Funny and dumb because it's an oxymoron. God wouldn't let you go thru anything you can't handle.

Floyd clowned Canelo...I felt embarrassed for Alvarez in the second half of the fight.
But no, let's give him 6 fuucking rounds!

Perhaps the scorecards were generous, but I'll have to rewatch the fight to score it. Did he win 4 rounds?crusader wrote:Floyd clowned Canelo...I felt embarrassed for Alvarez in the second half of the fight.

Alright, one. Let's be honest, there was only going to be one winner.armageto wrote:JudahLoki wrote:Floyd has really only struggled with Castillo, Maidana, Canelo, De La Hoya and Cotto. Struggled is a too stronger word - didn't beat convincingly.Chippo wrote:Floyd struggles with southpaws.

Re: Dumbest quote (most often repeated) ...
I gave Canelo 2 'nothing' rounds where Floyd did very little, but I think it could've just as easily been scored 12-0. The 116-112 cards were also generous, though 114-114 is ATG bad.
Good luck GGG!

Re: Dumbest quote (most often repeated) ...
I had the fight very close, 114-113 for Floyd. I gave Judah 4 out of the first 6 rounds, the 12th, plus I credited him for the missed knockdown. The official scores were way off.Loki wrote:Alright, one. Let's be honest, there was only going to be one winner.armageto wrote:JudahLoki wrote:

Re: Dumbest quote (most often repeated) ...
I thought Floyd won a hell of a lot more clearly than that. It was only competitive early on. From Round 5 onward it was the Floyd show, and he was beating him up to the point that it looked like he might stop him if it kept up like that. Then Zab hit him low and caused the whole near riot situation that lead to the long delay that broke up Floyd's momentum.armageto wrote:I had the fight very close, 114-113 for Floyd. Re: Dumbest quote (most often repeated) ...
Boxing related, just shows how hard it is for fighters to admit defeat or the possibility that there's someone better, even when trying to show class or respect, it's always "He was the better man on this night." As if every other night, he wouldn't be the better man. Also, "No excuses.. but..".
Re: Dumbest quote (most often repeated) ...
It doesn't really matter what you all think, because at the end of the day..... (I think Danny Garcia uses/over-uses it the most.)
By the way, some of you are confusing "struggling with" with having closer scores that should have been. The only match I really seen Floyd struggle with was the first Castillo bout. He won the immediate rematch clearly, but ironically closer on the cards. He didn't struggle with DLH, Maidana, Judah, Pac, etc. if you are honest with yourself. Did someone mention Floyd struggling with Canelo?
Even in the rounds that Floyd did little, he did far more than Canelo did.
