Kellerman: Crawford, Spence Would Have Stopped Mayweather
Max Kellerman, who works for HBO Sports and ESPN, believes five division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs) should never even consider idea of returning to the ring.
Based on last Saturday's performance, Kellerman felt Mayweather was certainly looking his age and would have been battered by some of the younger, up and coming fighters like IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence and unified junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford.
"What we saw was Conor McGregor’s exceptional quality as a fighter on the one hand and Floyd Mayweather’s age secondarily. I don’t want to take anything away from Conor - but also Floyd at the age of 40 has to stop fighting," Kellerman said.
"There are a lot of young fighters, several at least, who would have knocked Floyd out on Saturday night. I know he wouldn’t have fought them the exact same way but that Floyd doesn’t go the distance with Terence Crawford, maybe not with Errol Spence. There are a bunch of young guys who would have beaten him up that night. That’s enough, he’s retiring at the perfect time.
“So, the big take away from me is, that was the best version of the fight it could have been. I was wrong to say Conor wouldn’t land a punch – he landed several actual punches cleanly. He won a few rounds early when Floyd hadn’t started fighting yet, which is amazing to me. But ultimately he didn’t really have a chance to win the fight and Floyd won in the way he did partly because he is an older, flat-footed fighter now.”

Yeah probably.
Someone like Thurman, Danny Garcia or Porter could've stood a real good chance at beating him as well.
That's why he was fighting McGregor, and not one of those guys...that and the fact that fighting one of those guys wouldn't have been even half as lucrative.

Not convinced Spence or Crawford would have stopped Floyd but they clearly would have outclassed and outboxed him!! Floyd needs to STAY retired...
Re: Kellerman: Crawford, Spence Would Have Stopped Mayweather
Well, they certainly might have, given the sh*t that McGregor was landing with. In Mayweather's prime, no question I would pick him to get a decision over Crawford or Spence. But last weekend, I would pick Crawford and Spence to beat Mayweather.

Re: Kellerman: Crawford, Spence Would Have Stopped Mayweather
There's a good chance he wouldn't have beat those guys but to compare him fighting them to mcgregor is ridiculous he showed mcgregor no respect, mayweather is possibly the best defensive fighter ever but walked forward with a high guard to tire mcgregor and land his own punches, would he really have fought like that against a contender?
Re: Kellerman: Crawford, Spence Would Have Stopped Mayweather
irrelevant. floyd did not come out of
retirement, he just performed in a
very well paid exhibition.
i don't see why anyone should even
remotely criticise floyd for what he
showed in the mcgregor fight. he
obviously did it for the cash, he clearly
won and that is all there is to it.
go and earn that money in boxing at
this age that easily. brilliant move.
just brilliant to earn way more money
than all the others combined for a
single fight against someone making
his debut.

Re: Kellerman: Crawford, Spence Would Have Stopped Mayweather
...I don't quite follow this Kellerman's rant..this circus with Connor was obviously a sure thing adding an extra zero on Floyd's resume thus making it perfect for those who care, and more than an adequate paycheck..who could have theoretically stopped a 40-year-boxer is no longer relevant...
Re: Kellerman: Crawford, Spence Would Have Stopped Mayweather
Mayweather looked poor but let's be fair, that was the easiest fight of his career, and he neglected a lot of his main fundamentals, in my opinion because mcgregor was so far below his level, to carry mcgregor and make the fight last a bit so the fans got something to see. I find it hard to believe Mayweather would have fought like that against a live opponent.
It's irrelevant saying x, y and z would have beat him on that showing

Connor cannot fight with his fist so you and Kellermen are dead wrong this fight was joke if Usain Bolt raced a marathon Champion he will be in front at the start fuc yare but was he ever going to win the marathon fuc no and any idiot that thinks so is not worth arguing with Kellerman was wrong like me when he said Connor wouldn't win a round I didn't expect Floyd to loss rounds by design walking down the novice Kellerman exposed his lack of boxing knowledge Connor was sapped of his energy just like pro's do to amateur's in sparring period

lack of training, but because he is no
pro boxer and doesn't know how to
fight economically. plus being hit flush
doesn't help either.
in the end floyd gave fans what they
wanted, although i do not think he could
have stopped it really much earlier. conor
absorbed quite well and floyd is not the
hugest of punchers at his age.

Yeah, it certainly makes me think he was right to retire when he did.
