With only Benevidez v Gavril for the WBC super middleweight title lined up in a couple of weeks we've got to be due a few PBC announcements in the next few days as October - December is always very busy.

I'm thinking

Charlo v Lubin ( looking forward to that) with Hurd v Trout.

Porter v Garcia

Santa Cruz and Mares in the same card but against other opponents ( embarrassing)

Wilder v Ortiz ( hopefully)

Chickenson v Eledier Alvarez

Spence's first defence

Loads of others I'm forgetting as well. What's Danny Jacobs doing ? Is Gary Russell ever going to fight more than once a year ??

I just noticed that. This is why Gaymon and PBC failed. Why the hell aren't Mares and Santa Cruz rematching? They're both at the point where a rematch would get a lot of hype. They're both coming off their best wins in a while. Absolutely stupid that they aren't fighting each other.

Abner Mares & Leo Santa Cruz are both scheduled to fight on the same card on the same date (14th October). They were supposed to be fighting each other, but they couldn’t agree on the financial terms. The fight falling through wasn’t caused by Al Haymon.

I'm genuinely concerned for the future of boxing. HBO has stripped their operation down to a handful of relatively low-budget cards per year, and PBC clearly weren't successful with their time-buy model and don't seem to have enough Showtime dates for their roster.

It's already pretty bad. Many divisions with it's best fighters fighting once or twice per year. I couldn't really care less, as a bunch of these guys thought they'd get a free ride to stardom with massive pay for fighting bums. But amid the inactiviy or downtime, there's always going to be pockets of good times. The WBSS Cruiserweight tournament for instance.. For the majority of the year, I couldn't give a crap about boxing though.

Could be the result of being overpaid by the PBC.

Fergus is setting up Oct 14th to be epic. LSC & Mares on a card, Jacobs headlining a card, the Charlo/Hurd card that people other than her have mentioned. Going to be a great day!

BoxRec has the following bouts listed to take place on the 14th October for the men you’ve mentioned:
• Jermell Charlo-Erickson Lubin
• Erislandy Lara-Terrell Gausha
• Abner Mares-TBA
• Leo Santa Cruz-TBA

There are also about a dozen recent articles quoting Daniel Jacobs himself as claiming that he’ll either be fighting on or around the 14th October:

"We’re going to get the rematch," Jacobs said. "We got a date coming back, October 14 at the Barclays Center. We don’t have the opponent yet though, but we’re working on that. We should have something."

There's a YouTube video of him saying this also.

Yes, I'm sure the PBC, which specializes in not doing cards, will attempt to thwart their own tripleheader by scheduling two more cards.

It's Mares vs Andres Guiterrez (recently lost an MD to Mijares and was going to be Frampton's return opponent) and Leo Santa Cruz vs Chris Avalos.

Neither challenger appears in the WBA's July rankings, but I'm sure they'll turn up now!

Thurman and Garcia haven't fought in 6 months and have nothing scheduled.

Frampton hasn't fought in 7 months and has nothing scheduled.

LSC goes 9 months between fights and is facing Chris Avalos of all people.

Stevenson has been supposedly fighting Alvarez any day now for like the last year, and it's still not scheduled.

Thurman injured. Garcia is supposedly facing Porter (with a date to be determined) for a WBC interim titleshot. Frampton was due to fight on the 29th July (against Andres Gutierrez), but his opponent withdrew due to a freak injury.

Leo Santa Cruz only fights twice and sometimes three times per year... and he's still on schedule to maintain that schedule during 2017.

I think you are right.

It is pathetic they are not rematching next. Santa Cruz should be stripped of the WBA title for refusing to fight his mandatory challenger and Mares should be enforcing that too.

But the WBA will do nothing and take sanctioning fees off both fighters.

Santa Cruz I hated for years because he was getting big money for fighting poor opponents. ( not the only boxer like this ) no wonder he named his son after Al Haymon

He got a lot of credibility in the past 18 months now he is ruining it. Bet he doesn't fight Mares for another year.
