Badou Jack sudden improvement?

Post by kbackup408 »

Morning lads, was just catching up on a boxing podcast (Boxing Gossip) on my way to work and they raised an interesting point on Jack.

(In no way am I pointing fingers because Jack is the nicest lad outta the ring)

His sudden improvements seem shocking it might simply be down to Mayweathers tutelage but do you think his improvements could be down to PED's?

I think he has been incrementally improving each fight.

fair enough, good point rather than sudden big improvements each fight is more accurate.

Well you can't just launch into full on PED use, you have to ease yourself in gently ;-)

I think his movement has improved and so has his accuracy. It might be his training at TMT as well as top sparring opportunitys there. Last 3 fights I like him more and more. Very economical but effective.

His improvement does raise suspicions. But I suspect pretty much all pro boxers tbh.

I always thought he just got caught cold and unprepared early on.

Take away that blemish the skill set was obviously always there.

No more struggling to make weight might have a lot to do with Badou looking good

He's definitely a better fighter at 175lb.

I was harsh on him a year ago, having watched him put in many a mediocre performance, but to be fair has raised his game as necessary .

He was a latecomer to the sport so maybe not surprising he should still be improving at an advanced age.

He looked awesome against cleverly, though cleverly clearly looked spent.

He's always shown precise and powerful compact punching, but that seemed to get overlooked due to the loss. I remember the consensus being that Groves-Jack wasn't even a fight, and that GG was going to massacre him....this was even after Jack had beaten Dirrell.

He's always been good. Perennially underrated by many, myself included. Bad performances happen, getting caught cold happens, but he's rebuilt well and deserves credit.

I think he has improved step by step but I dont think there is anything suspicious. We see boxers improve all the time. Look at Buglioni for instance, he came a long way since Khomitski, he can almost box aleady.

Not so much of a big improvement, Cleverly was just very poor in fairness.

Better at the weight - without draining himself to SMW limit.

That said Cleverly was poor on the night.

Oi! :box:
You leave Buggsy alone :shame:
He's doing so much better lately. You can tell he has been working on his defence, OK so sometimes he forgets  or moves his head when not in range, but getting better each fight. Domestic #1 now Clev is out and definitely European level now.

I think that would be a great fight. Think Ward would have serious problems with Jack's skillset, especially as Jack seems to have much more offensive output.

Cleverly is shot and no better than British level. but yeh Jack already an underrated fighter for me, just a neat style, not spectacular and gets overlooked but he beat a decent George Groves.
