With less than three weeks to go until fight night, Billy Joe Saunders is in fantastic shape for his next World Title defence.

On September 16th, the unbeaten Middleweight defends his WBO crown against American Willie Monroe Jr at the Copper Box Arena.

Saunders recently teamed up with Sheffield-based trainer Dominic Ingle, and the move appears to be paying off.

The southpaw celebrated his 28th birthday on Wednesday, but confirmed he wouldn't be having any birthday cake. "No celebrations until after my fight as I'm in camp, but I'll have a tin of tuna," he tweeted.

Last time out, Saunders laboured to a points win over game Russian Artur Akavov, but admitted he was not fully fit and was dissapointed with his performance.

Now with the new team around him at Ingle Gym, the southpaw is confident he can kickstart his career as he eyes a big Middleweight unification.

As well as Ingle, Saunders credits his nutritionist Greg Marriott: "It seems like I have someone practically living with me monitoring my every move towards the fridge!

"I would say my attitude towards boxing as a whole is on a different level since I have been in the Ingle camp," he wrote in a recent Fighter Diary.

Thank fornicate. Glad he looks to be in good shape as he's a serious talent if he gets his attitude right. Thing is, he doesn't look very big for a middleweight so I wonder what weight he will come in at? when he's looked flabby and soft in previous fights he's always made weight. Plenty pictures of him and Kell Brook training together, kell actually looks like the bigger man.

Kell Brook is renowned for blowing up in weight between fights. He was 176lbs for the 30-day weigh-in for the Golovkin fight. I’m guessing that he must weigh at least 185lbs+ when he’s not preparing for a bout.

I recall seeing him a couple of years ago and he was one of the Sky Sports pundits for a 5am Amir Khan fight, he had big round hamster cheeks. He's appeared on the same channel multiple times looking like that.

I doubt that means that Kell is actually a “big” man, it’s just that he seems get a bit chubby like Ricky Hatton used to between bouts.

I guess that's part of the reason why Saunders chose the Ingle gym, they are highly-experienced at getting their fighters to drop weight without significantly dropping their performance levels. I think I previously posted a video of Dominic Ingle explaining this.

He just needs to show up and win 4 rounds. That will lock up the decision.

I think winning 3 rounds with 3-4 more relatively close ones will be enough.

Remarkable for him but in no way is he in remarkable shape in my eyes, i'd say he's in average fit shape.

Ps: I still have him winning by decision.

So the math

Win 3 rounds

3-4 close ones

Presumably that means lose clearly 6 rounds

Yeah that should be fine :salut:

You and diddy should get together and moan and england and home decisions

Hope Saunders is starting to take boxing more serious, live the life a bit more. We have a few in this country that just don't do that and it costs.

His career has badly stalled so he needs to get it going

He's a bum, not a world champion deserving of attention.
I know tons of dudes who are in better shape for free.
Just because the WBO says he's important, this bum is getting shine.
Maybe one champion per division should be dropped.

Edit - I could be wrong though. If he does prove me wrong, it would be greater than me being right.
So, go Billy Joe! Just seems like the type of guy GGG stops in 3.
But hopefully I'm wrong ... I won't be.

It's just been proven that you've talked fûckîng shît.

Do you care to retort or will you instead concede defeat?
