PACQUIAO PULLS OUT OF REMATCH

Post by BIGDOUG58 »

Manny Pacquiao has pulled out of the rematch with Jeff Horn.
1. In my opinion...at the request of Bob Arum.
he beleives Pacquiao couldnt win the Horn fight 2.
2. They will match Horn with Crawford and give Manny an easy tune up bout.
3. Then Match Pacquiao with Crawford in the US.
one big payday for Manny..
this way Arum gets the Title back. and controls Crawford for all future bouts.
Rigged..

If Pacquiao isn't gonna do the rematch with Horn he should probably retire. Not sure there are any "easy tune-ups" left out there for him. After all, that's what Horn was supposed to be.

If he turned down Horn then he is probably going to retire. Freddy is not on board for anything more than that according to him.
There isn't an easier pay day for Manny oiy there. Even if Lipnets picks up the belt Crawford vacated, that is probably a step too far for 2018 Pac.
It leaves Horn a free agent which is interesting. I don't see him going up against Crawford but there are plenty of other good fights out there for him.

I was surprised Pacquiao would agree to a rematch in Australia in the first place. The outcome would be the same. He would lose by a biased decision. I understand that he may need the money, but there are other ways to get it. Pacquiao could fight in the Philippines on one of the cards at the new arena there. It cannot hold as many people as the arena in Australia, but the networks in the Philippines could televise it. He needs to be like the "people's champion." He doesn't need Horn to make money and he doesn't need the title that he lost. I don't think he should retire. He can fight for major belts or regional/minor belts. It doesn't matter. People will watch all over the world because he's still very popular. People only care about Horn in Australia.

A rematch is pointless, he won clearly enough the first time.

I severely doubt he's pulled out as TR don't think he can win the fight. Many think he already won the fight.

I don't see them sending Pacquaio in with Crawford, or setting him up for that fight, either. Pacquaio is a great, but recently he's just fought the weaker alphabet champs. His days of fighting a guy like Crawford are gone imo

Is he injured so has pulled out? If not I'd say he's retiring

Could a move to the 140lbs weight division be on the cards for the Filipino future Hall-of-Famer, which Freddie Roach has persistently claimed was Manny’s optimal weight class?

Top Rank seem to have an almost suspiciously close relationship with the WBO, so perhaps Manny can compete for their (soon-to-be-vacant) Jr. welterweight crown against the likes of Antonio Orozco or Maurice Hooker, which would serve as an ideal tune-up for the potential Horn rematch?

That would be a strange move at this stage of his career.

I suspect we will hear of his retirement fairly imminently.

Manny Pacquaios' bouts against the likes of Jeff Horn and Timothy Bradley Jr (the third time) were also considered "strange moves" at the time.

Hasn't it already been announced that Manny is committed to fighting during 2018? He only withdrew from the Horn fight because of a governmental obligation to visit China.

I think Crawford will vacate all of the belts at 140lbs, because he’s already stated his intent to make the jump to welterweight.

He’ll keep hold of them until he’s either forced to drop them (due to being stripped) or until Top Rank requests that he vacates them, in order to allow another fighter(s) from the same promotional stable to challenge for them.

And like you, I believe that Pacquiao will eventually compete for one of the soon-to-be-vacant 140lbs belts (in a stay-busy tune-up type bout) before facing Horn again... I reckon it's likely to be for the WBO strap though, due to Top Rank's dubiously close relationship with that governing body.

Neither. Orozco is likely an even harder mark than Horn, and wasting time before he fights Horn will only make it more likely that Horn wins the rematch. He's getting older all the time. Another fight in between a rematch with Horn will only further the chances that he'll never officially beat Horn.

Fighters at Manny's age don't get better. They get worse...and worse...and worse...and worse.

Manny won every fight.
When JMM KO'ed him, it was steroids.
At some point, while doing it, shouldn't people realize they are biased?

Manny lost rounds to Horn. It's easy to argue he lost 5 rounds.
Once that's established, you can't make bold robbery statements.

Maybe Horn is better than we think.
Or maybe, just maybe, Manny got older, like a human.

Either way, Manny should fight at 140 if he wants to finish his career.
When he was all juiced up and young, he could dominate up to 154.
But now, he should go back down.
He doesn't fight was killer instinct, and the guys at 147 will recover and hit him hard.
If Manny stays at 147, he's going to end up taking one of those uncomfortable retirement beat downs.

Time to retire. There's nothing to be gained by fighting any more, he's got more to lose at this stage. Should have retired after Mayweather, hope he hasn't spent all his money. Great career, no point in hanging on to lose to the likes of Horn over and over again.

You think? That may have been my initial knee jerk reaction but I'm starting to wonder if CMacs fan base is such that he could sell, well if not almost anything, he can certainly sell a load of shite i wouldn't have expected him to sell. I guess the difficult part would be selling the Beef Is Real multimedia rivalry given Pacs limitations in that area? But still i wouldn't back against him being able to sell a PAC fight, 'the man Floyd ran from for years, a real fighter who will come to make war' blah blah blah. And PAC is known among MMA fans and casuals. I could see that shit selling. Don't underestimate the power of stupidity and wishful thinking among Irish and Irish expat fans, lol.

I don't think Conor fans made up a big part of the buys for Floyd. Manny isnt a ppv draw here anymore. I don't see any scenario where a boxing match is more lucrative for Conor than going back to MMA.

Very dissapointing. I would have liked to have seen Horn beat Pac again..for some it wasn't clear enough, even in the Australian sun. What happened to all the trilogy conspiracy theories.

I'm not sure if this is possible because they both have Roach as a trainer but could Manny have pulled out of this fight in order to fight Cotto in December in his last fight. It might be the last fight for both men. It would be a hell of a way to go out and probably the biggest possible payday for each guy. Just a thought.

Pacquiao would never fight Conor McGregor... Guaranteed... He ridiculed the fight as a sideshow and said he didn't want to say a damn thing about it because it's a disgrace for Floyd to fight somebody who's making his professional debut in Boxing... He'd be a hypocrite if he fought the Irishman.
