Margarito wants third fight with Cotto

Post by RScarf1 »

Antonio Margarito said he wants to fight Miguel Cotto again which would be their third fight if it happened. Cotto believes that Margarito cheated in the first fight because of his hand wraps. For his final fight, I don't think Cotto is going to give an opportunity to Margarito. Cotto won the rematch, so a third fight seems unlikely to me, especially if Margarito loses to Carson Jones today. What do you think?

Won't happen

Cotto kicked his arse when there was no cheating involved

Shame cos Margarito in the first cotto fight, that was a brilliant fight. Personally feel like cotto lost a step after that. Thenfind out about hand wraps vs mosley. The guys a scumbag

He should look to fight Victor Ortiz or Brandon Rios.

If he's got anything left he'll beat up Carson Jones pretty well.

It's obvious why Margarito would want Cotto, but Cotto is nearing the end of his career and will only be pursuing bigger money fights. I don't the boxing public is clamoring for a third fight.

I'm picking Carson Jones to beat him myself.

I remember when he used to post here from time to time. He's a scrappy fighter, pretty hot and cold as I recall. Can't see him winning this one, but I won't be disappointed if he does :TU:

Why can't you see it?

Carson is 31, Margarito is 39

Margarito didn't even fight for 5 years between 2011 and 2016, and he's come back with 2 narrow decisions over the likes of Jorge Paez Jr. and Ramon Alvarez. Carson Jones is no world beater...not even close, but he's achieved more in his career than either Alvarez or Paez Jr.

If Carson shows up ready to win, I believe he can.

Margarito is a badly faded, partially blind fighter.

Margarito beating Jones wouldn't shock me of course because indeed he's nothing special, but Margarito ain't Margarito no more.

If achieving more in a career made a difference in a fight then we wouldn't even be having this discussion. I'd take Paez over Jones too.

Both fighters are shells of what they were, but Margarito was obviously much more than Jones. Marga shouldn't even be fighting, but I just can't see Jones winning this one. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong; I just hope both guys get through the fight without suffering a ton of damage.

Nice of you to say. I've heard some people say they hope Carson Jones f*cks up Margo's other eye

Why did they even give back a licence to this fecal matter ?
Cotto will soil himself if he agrees to the third fight.

IMO, they should have a rubber match in which Margarito is wearing illegal wraps on only one of his two hands. I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out...

Thank Bob Arum and Pacquiao for lobbying to get Margarito his boxing license back because they wanted a fight with him, when he should have had a permanent ban or been in jail. The guy is worse than scum, and Arum and Pacquiao should hang their head in shame.

No, we have to make things even. Cotto should be allowed to wear the illegal hand wraps. Can you imagine the PPV sales on that?

He wouldn't need one, Marg is shot to pieces, within 2 rounds Cotto's left hook would permanently blind his bad eye.

I really do not want to see Cotto v Cheato III. I would much prefer Cotto v Pac II.

The ending of the Margarito-Jones fight was as corrupt as any decision in the history of Boxing... Jones was driving an exhausted Margarito around the ring, threatening to knock him out when it was stopped, the fans thought in favor of Jones -- but the referee says the fight has to go to the scorecards... So the fight was in Chihuahua Mexico and all 3 boxing judges live in Chihuahua Mexico... Nice.

Right... Margarito quit on his stool, but he was tuckered out the previous round.. I thought he would get stopped in the next round, so they claimed the cut stopped the fight -- though he had no trouble seeing out of the eye.. In the Cotto rematch Margarito's right eye was closed tight as a drum from Cotto's jabs and left hooks -- but he and his fans claim he could have continued -- and was starting to win a fight where he was hopelessly behind.
