7 PPV's in 5 weeks

Post by kbackup408 »

Evening lads, I don't mind occasionally paying for a fight but you really are pushing the boundaries when you put so many PPV's one after the another.

I was under the impression the WBSS would be on free to air TV but this is taking the mick!

What do you guys feel or am I just over reacting and this is the norm in boxing now?

Boxing PPV's priced themselves out of my life long ago. Doesn't look like they're coming back down to Earth anytime soon so I won't be buying anymore of them.

Especially when I see all the stuff I want to see anyway.

No , it's becoming a joke.

If people boycotted it , it wouldn't go on .

Should be reserved for mega fights only .

It's going the same way as boxing in the US and Australia where they have to pay for any half decent fight. I fear in a few years, we will be asked to pay the same prices as them too.

The way football is going, I wouldn't be surprised to see certain matches being PPV in a few years.

this makes me sad because the only sport I truly keep up with is becoming a farce, imaging forking out £80 quid for a bout in a few years !

Don't forget that attending even small hall shows is £40 a ticket. The last two events I attended were a Goodwin show at York Hall and Froch Groves 2 at Wembley, and they cost me the same.

For example, this coming Saturday 09/09/17 at York Hall is Joel McIntyre vs Liam Conroy for the English LHW title. £43.20 cheapest seat. I think that's the equivalent of watching a League One football match. Imagine having to pay £40 to watch Charlton against Southend!

thats true, would have thought shows at York Hall would be cheaper but they are as expensive as going to a massive bill say in a stadium !

I'll bother with:
Canelo vs GGG - if I can be arsed staying up
Groves vs Cox - fun little fight and also hopefully a half decent undercard
Joshua vs Pulev - I assume there'll be an ok undercard

Eubank one is 7th October and has no other fights confirmed on the card. Hmmm. Don't think I'll bother with that.

It's not me by the way.

Canelo v GGG Is not bad although I don't think it will do massive numbers in the U.K., Joshua they have made him demand the money to be a PPV star but I think Hearn really overvalues his appeal by putting on good cards and even worse with bellew he's been lucky with the cleverly rivalry and the Haye fight but I struggle to see him as a PPV fighter unless it's against Haye or for a version of the world heavyweight title

thats very true Bellew can't pull 700k-900k fighting Bredis or Usyk, sad state atm everyone keeps on banging on about how British boxing is booming but we are shooting ourselves in the foot with these PPVs
