I've never said he'd take him out in 1 if he tried. Ricky, what do you need a signed affidavit from Floyd? I'll work on it for you. Watch it again and focus on the punch totals. Most noteworthy, look at how many unanswered punches Conor gets to throw at the best counterpuncher in history without having anything coming back at him. Use your brain dude. The guy was 0-0. He looked it too.
Floyd let him punch himself out - knowing his arms aren't conditioned for 12 rounds of boxing. That is not the same as "carrying" someone. This idea Floyd could have went toe-to-toe with a bigger fresher younger man and got the job done in 1 or 2 rounds cannot be serious.

Obviously put Conor in with a younger, more aggressive fighter and he struggles to last a couple of rounds. Hoping the experiment is done and there aren't anymore of these match up trying to jump on the bandwagon
Over the piece, it was the easiest fight Floyd has had since his early pro days fighting journeymen with losing recs.
But you're right, this idea that he was allowing McGregor to make him look stupid is a joke - there's no way that Floyd allowed McGregor to stick some counter uppercuts on him. There's no way he allowed McGregor to pop him with the jab. There's no way he allowed McGregor to win rounds.
The idea that he did, just smacks of boxing snobbery - McGregor should get some credit, he more than held his own for the opening 3 rounds.

Of course he allowed him to win rounds. He literally threw nothing in the first round, do you think he thought he was going to win the round the way he fought it?Ricky_ wrote:jessica91 wrote:Floyd didn't carry him. He threw little because it was his game plan, let Conor exhaust himself and turn the aggressor once his output slowed. He wasn't concerned with winning the early rounds but that isn't the same thing as letting Conor win rounds. Ali didn't carry ForemanCovfefe wrote:Of course he allowed him to win rounds. Hey guys, there are actual meaningful fights coming up between pairs of active professional boxers. Last weekend's sports entertainment event has probably been rehashed enough.

I was relying to Ricky saying there is no way he allowed McGregor to win rounds. If your plan is to not throw and let your opponent throw you are giving rounds away, that is allowing him to win rounds. It's stupid to suggest otherwise.jessica91 wrote:He threw little because it was his game plan, let Conor exhaust himself and turn the aggressor once his output slowed. McGregor was a lot better offensively than Floyd ever expected... Conor outboxed Floyd easily for 3 rounds.. Floyd ate a lot of punches in the first 3 rounds and if Floyd made a slug-fest out it from the opening bell, Conor had the power to knock Floyd out... McGregor was badly weight drained... He had that same washed out, pasty look that Oscar De La Hoya had for his Pacquiao fight... Oscar's corner did what McGregor's corner SHOULD have done... They pulled Oscar out of the fight after 8 rounds because he was taking big shots and not landing ANYTHING threatening.. Oscar might have been knocked out cold by Pacquiao if he continued into the 9th round.Enlightened-One wrote:In fact, had Floyd went on the offensive early, he probably would have been easily capable of winning a toe-to-toe slugfest within two rounds. However, if this would have been the actual outcome of the bout, he would have been aggressively lambasted for conning the fans.
Mayweather Jr. received a lot of criticism from the fans for the one-sided tedious nature of the Pacquiao bout, so he remained patient and extended the show to please the fans and to gain some measure of redemption, allowing himself to retire on a high-note.
McGregor took massive head shots in the 9th so you should stop it right away -- all the more so because Conor doesn't know how to escape loaded shots when he's physically exhausted... Oscar was at least able to blunt a lot of the punishment from Pacquiao because he knew what he was doing -- while Conor was absorbing full blooded power shots... McGregor could have gotten hurt very, very seriously.. Floyd is one of the best boxers in the history of the sport.

Floyd wasnt troubled in the least by any of mcgregors punches, conor has power, but hes too easy to read by a skilled defensive boxer like floyd. Floyd allowed conor to work for a few rounds to make it look less of s farce than it was.Kalan wrote:McGregor was a lot better offensively than Floyd ever expected... It's stupid to give your opponent the first 3 rounds and Floyd Mayweather is not a stupid man... You don't know for certain that your opponent is going to run out of gas until he starts to weaken and that's something you can't fake... As it is, Floyd got hit with punches in the first 3 rounds he never expected to take in this fight, so he was forced to be very defensive... Conor popped Floyd with jabs, and hit him with hooks and uppercuts that Floyd couldn't avoid because Conor has a lot of speed and athleticism, even if he has very poor boxing skills.. McGregor started tiring in the 4th round.. That's when Mayweather started taking the offensive.. He also hit Conor with deliberate low blows and a vicious elbow in the 4th round.. He could feel him tiring because his punches had nothingCovfefe wrote:I was relying to Ricky saying there is no way he allowed McGregor to win rounds. Floyd suspected mid week that McGregor was going to be weight drained.. He had spies in McGregor's camp because he absolutely knew he was heavy and he said so.. Canelo was also badly weight drained when he fought Floyd -- but not nearly as badly as McGregor.
Re: Wake The Heck Up People...Floyd Carried Conor! Enough
It wasn't a farce because Floyd was getting hit a lot... It should have been a farce, but Conor was able to reach Floyd with a pretty tricky offense... However his defensive skills were the pits... as soon as Conor started to tire he was a sitting duck... When he wasn't throwing he was getting killed.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Floyd wasnt troubled in the least by any of mcgregors punches, conor has power, but hes too easy to read by a skilled defensive boxer like floyd. Re: Wake The Heck Up People...Floyd Carried Conor! Enough
Have you guys watched Showtime’s Mayweather-McGregor All Access Epilogue?
If not, you should review that and then revise your opinions accordingly, because it seems really obvious that Floyd was simply carrying McGregor, whilst enjoying the ease at which he was able to complete the final rounds of his career.
I’m sorry guys, but when one of the most defensively-minded and cautious elite boxers of recent history suddenly decides to completely abandon his long-term typical boxing strategy in order to walk down an opponent that is not only more than a decade his junior, but is also at least 20lbs heavier than himself, then this clearly demonstrates Mayweather Jr's utter contempt for McGregor’s punching power.
Some of the absurd comments about Floyd being allegedly “hurt” by Conor are atrociously deluded in nature!

Floyd give away early rounds to legitimise the fight and mcgregor being in the ring with him.

Sky are reshowing the fight now and the first 3 rounds have just finished. It's even more obvious with hindsight that Floyd was carrying McGregor, I honestly can't believe any real boxing fan can't see it.

He couldn't have cared less. McGregor was better than he expected and he let him tire out. Really bizarre how protective boxing fans are when it comes to MMA. Indeed, logic has gone out the window. Floyd already got the money when the first bell rings. He didn't care how disgracefully negative he was even when he had further fights contracted, he sure wasn't going to care in his last fight.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He couldn't have cared less.
