Definitely not Paulie, no money in that.
Re: will mcgregor fight nate diaz or paulie
Really can't see the Paulie fight.
So if it's a choice between the 2... Diaz
Either way I only see an mma match next for mcgregor

Neither.
I'd love to see him VS Lee/Ferguson winner.

IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
I mean he would probably get KTFO but could he make more money than in a big UFC fight ?
Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
I get your question is hypothetical, but mcgregor isn't a boxer, I'd be amazed if either of these guys are interested in fighting him
Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
If they can get $25-$30 million from fighting him, sure they would be interested.Ossyrules wrote:I get your question is hypothetical, but mcgregor isn't a boxer, I'd be amazed if either of these guys are interested in fighting him
Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
Now THAT would be an example of a money grab. Not on the level of a MoneyMcGrab, but still significant.

So you reckon there would be genuine interest from mainstream casual fight fans to see a fighter that was walked down, dominated and then stopped by a forty year old past-his-prime welterweight that hadn’t competed for two years, would be regarded as a genuine threat to physically bigger and far more powerful middleweights like Canelo and GGG?apollo creed wrote:I mean he would probably get KTFO but could he make more money than in a big UFC fight ?

Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
It'd only sell IF McGregor defeats a credible boxer first. He's got that opportunity because Paulie Malignaggi wants it. If he beats Paulie Malignaggi, maybe he could fight someone like Amir Khan who is smaller than Mayweather, etc.. and if he could somehow someway beat him... Then a showdown with GGG, Canelo or Pacquiao could be marketable. But definitely not at present time.

Mcgregor had zero power. So khans big weakness being chinny is mostly neutralised.
Add into the fact that Khan is naturally more attacking than Mayweather, has quicker hands. Mcgregor wouldn't know what's hit him in that match up
Let's get realistic... 1% any of these hypotheticals actually happen

It would make sense for his bank manager: It wouldn't make any sense for his health, because he'd get marmalised.
McGregor doesn't belong in the ring with any world class boxers.

Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
I don't think it would sell as well, no more novelty factor. Plus Conor's personality/trash talk etc wouldn't be the same with those two, they wouldn't play along
Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
I think Pacquiao - McGregor makes a lot more sense. The winner of Alvarez - Golovkin would rip through McGregor like a chainsaw, which hurts the fight's perceived competitiveness, which hurts its buy rate. A 42-year-old Mayweather, who is a welterweight that never scores knockouts, was knocking McGregor around from pillar to post. The winner of Alvarez - Golovkin would be a much larger, more in-prime middleweight with way more power than Mayweather, and would be top 2 p4p; there is no question that this mystery man would make very short, bloody work of McGregor. Plus, Pacquiao may still have enough drawing power in his reserves to objectively outdraw Alvarez, and he easily outdraws Golovkin even if Golovkin did beat Alvarez. The minor decline of Pacquiao just feeds the perception of competitiveness; MMA fans would buy it because they sincerely think McGregor would have a chance of beating Pacquiao, who is a household name. There are fewer MMA fans who have heard of Alvarez and Golovkin than have heard of Pacquiao.
For the winner of Alvarez - Golovkin, a fight with McGregor makes a lot of sense, and I'd take it if I can get it. But for McGregor, a fight with the Alvarez - Golovkin winner is suicide, and the money you make is not worth the horrible amount of pain and injuries that it will be accompanied by. It could severely cut short McGregor's MMA career, and that is not worth it.

Conor McGregor would be a goddamn fool to ever box again. If he boxes, and loses again in uncompetitive fashion his starpower takes a huge hit. Both in Boxing and in MMA.
People need to forget about Conor as a boxer. He did it once, it's over now.

Conor should be able to make WAY more money with Canelo-GGG winner than ANYONE he fights in UFC, but he would essentially be cashing out while getting knocked out.apollo creed wrote:I mean he would probably get KTFO but could he make more money than in a big UFC fight ?
A blowout KO would probably signal an end to his boxing career, so his return to UFC would be permanent. But his competitive showing vs a badly faded Mayweather would give him enough "credibility" to keep his challenge of Canelo-GGG from being the complete laughing stock it would be otherwise.

Yes, McGregor v Pacquiao would suit both men and their representatives.Lackeos wrote:I think Pacquiao - McGregor makes a lot more sense. Every boxer can learn something about economics from Mayweather.

Re: IF Conor McGregor will decide to fight GGG/Canelo winner, it would make $ense?
Solid take overall, but I'm quoting only the part I take issue with. Assuming McGregor vs GGG-Canelo winner would be in Vegas (which it almost certainly would be) whoever was reffing that match would be "strongly advised" by the NSAC to stop the fight hastily like Robert Byrd did, to avoid the potential loss of future Vegas revenues (from MMA/boxing crossover bouts) that would be caused any high-profile injuries to Conor.Lackeos wrote:For the winner of Alvarez - Golovkin, a fight with McGregor makes a lot of sense, and I'd take it if I can get it. That being said, McGregor-Pacquiao would be great for Pac because it would give him a chance to conclude his career with the kind of KO that has eluded him since 2009 (witness his faded outing vs crude brawler Jeff Horn).
In all seriousness I think a catchweight bout at 150 between McGregor and Horn would actually be a winnable bout for Conor (although I see Horn as a slight favorite in that one). But that one would absolutely get PATHETIC ratings.

I dont like GSPs chances against any top guy at this point... His wrestling may do him well against McGregor. But I haven't seen GSP in 4 years. Who knows what his fighting shape is these days.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Might be gsp.lolImpractical Poster wrote:Neither.

Yes because even boxing fans i know think he did ok. I would love to see it because he would get obliterated by either guy and it wouldnt be fake like this one.Enlightened-One wrote:So you reckon there would be genuine interest from mainstream casual fight fans to see a fighter that was walked down, dominated and then stopped by a forty year old past-his-prime welterweight that hadn’t competed for two years, would be regarded as a genuine threat to physically bigger and far more powerful middleweights like Canelo and GGG?apollo creed wrote:I mean he would probably get KTFO but could he make more money than in a big UFC fight ?

#1- He had no power because his strategy against Mayweather was all wrong. He tried to BOX Mayweather. Therefore everything he threw was all arm shots, no snap behind anything. Had he thrown punches with bad intentions, as if to brawl with Mayweather from the start: he would have demonstrated power. He never demonstrated it because he never used it.Ossyrules wrote:Khan would crucify mcgregorHomicideHenry wrote:It'd only sell IF McGregor defeats a credible boxer first. #2- Khan has expressed interest in doing the fight. Khan has said himself he believes McGregor could beat Paulie Malignaggi. McGregor being Irish and Khan being English is a natural sell anyways. So why not? It's a huge IF for McGregor to beat a guy like Khan, but IF his stamina bumped up and he went in to brawl rather than box... It could happen.

Because, since time immemorial... Irish vs English has always sold... From Donnelly vs Cooper in the Curragh of Kildare, to Eubank vs Collins... It's always sold. Put that fight on at Croke Park or Royal Albert Hall and it'll sell out in minutes.
