Now, I really hope Canelo wins this fight and screw those trinkets.
I'm done with the WBC, always trying to get their noses in the biggest fights just to get a sanctioning fee!apollo creed wrote:In a packed to the rafters press conference in Mexico City, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, Fernando Montilla director of Makrame, Lorena Wong, marketing Director of Interjet and Rodrigo Cobo CEO of Talaria, presented a masterpiece belt of Huichol craftsmanship, to be awarded to the winner of the September 16 fight between WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Imagine if Canelo will win the fight and refuse that belt, the face of Suleiman!kbackup408 wrote:I'm done with the WBC, always trying to get their noses in the biggest fights just to get a sanctioning fee!apollo creed wrote:In a packed to the rafters press conference in Mexico City, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, Fernando Montilla director of Makrame, Lorena Wong, marketing Director of Interjet and Rodrigo Cobo CEO of Talaria, presented a masterpiece belt of Huichol craftsmanship, to be awarded to the winner of the September 16 fight between WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Probably not , but that belt is a marketing gimmick to remain under the wbc umbrella and that means keeping the 'WBC World Middleweight Title' which means fat fees!crusader wrote:Do you know if the fighters actually have to pay a fee for it?

Yes it ended up in a backwater museum, hope they have room in the cabinet for another!candyslim wrote:Remind me, didn't they get told where they could shove it, last time they tried this commemorative belt stunt?
Mayweather was holding the money belt after the fight. He likes the WBC and vice versa. I think that is why the judging was so biased because it should have been scored close up until the stoppage. Mayweather's strategy was to wait until McGregor tired to go for the knockout.KiwiRider wrote:Yes it ended up in a backwater museum, hope they have room in the cabinet for another!candyslim wrote:Remind me, didn't they get told where they could shove it, last time they tried this commemorative belt stunt?
Did that money belt get fought for in the May/Mac circus? Or was it handed back?
